Grand Cru Fishing Charters specializes in longer trips. Full day or multiday trips give you a lot of time for fishing, but also for cruising and sightseeing. The fishing grounds are found near popular attractions, including the Hole in the Rock, Northland’s East Coast, Tutukaka Coast with the Poor Knights Islands, or Whangaroa Harbour and the Cavalli Islands.
You will be fishing from a 42’ Capricorn Cruiser motor yacht. The boat is powered by two 360 HP Volvo engines, with a maximum cruising speed of 18 knots. The vessel is rigged with marine electronics, Furuno GPS, has a flybridge, air conditioning, a toilet, kitchen. Anglers will also find a live bait well, tuna tubes, outriggers, and an ice box.
The crew is experienced and they are skilled in both big game fishing, where you go after Marlin, Tuna, Yellowtail Amberjack (Kingfish), Hapuku, or in light tackle—go for Kingfish on a 6 and 8 kg line. When you get onboard, you will get the fishing gear, lures, and drinks. Bring your own food, and put on a cap, sunblock, sunnies. You won’t need a fishing license, but we advise you to bring a camera and get a good shot of the scenery and catch. Get your backpacks, and come onboard!
