iGuideBC Steelhead Fishing Charters
Ever wondered what the rainforests of British Columbia looked like several hundred years ago? Well, things in Port Renfrew haven’t changed much. The elk roam free, black bears catch and feed on Salmon, and the rivers are still teeming with an impressive variety of world-famous freshwater fish. If you want a first-class angling adventure combined with some stunning scenery, come aboard iGuideBC Steelhead Fishing Charters!
You’ll be able to take in some incredible sights from your boat, as you drift along the San Juan river. You’ll be guided on your trip by Alex West, who has been fishing for as long as he can remember. It’s fair to say that he’s a freshwater fanatic – Alex grew up on Vancouver Island learning how to hook trophy-sized fish. He runs year-round trips on the river that allow him to pass on his wealth of knowledge and experience to anglers of all ages and abilities.
Alex operates 14’ self-bailing whitewater rafts that are fitted with fishing frames – you’ll have the ultimate Vancouver Island drift fishing adventure on board one of these guys! On board, you’ll find GPS and life jackets, so you’ll get to the hotspots comfortably and safely. However, if drifting isn’t your thing, you can always hike through the majestic rainforest and fish the very remote but productive pools just teeming with Steelhead.
What you’ll target depends on when you visit, but no matter what, you’ll be spoiled for choice when it comes to hooking an impressive catch! From late August into September, the first Chinook will appear, followed by the larger Coho. By October, Steelhead will start to enter these rivers – this is also the best time to get out and catch trophy Salmon! Your guide will show you the best techniques to use, including spinning and fly fishing. Feel free to bring your favorite gear!
Hiking trips can also be done on Harris Creek and Gordon River. Your trip includes top-notch rods and reels. For a freshwater adventure, join iGuideBC Steelhead Fishing Charters!
