About the Captain

Ryan Engel
Port Washington, Wisconsin, United States
Member since August 2016
Captain Ryan literally grew up on the water, on a small inland lake in Southeastern Wisconsin. In 2001, Ryan’s obsession with Lake Michigan trout and salmon drew him to Port Washington. While earning a business degree at Concordia University, Ryan also earned his stripes as a first mate on a number of charter fishing boats. After receiving his degree, Ryan obtained his USCG Captain’s license and worked for several years as a captain on competitive charter services. He also started his own guide service Coastal Wisconsin Outfitters LLC. Driven and inspired by his passion for Lake Michigan salmon and trout fishing, and empowered by over 14 years of experience on the water, Ryan was naturally compelled to start his own sport fishing charter service.

Ryan was very professional.  He called to ask if we wanted to postpone, as it was raining and thunderstorming just minutes before we arrived at the dock.  I told him we had traveled far, were almost there, and the storm was passing.  So, we went.

Me, my four brothers and our mom were on the boat.  All of us had caught Lake Michigan fish before, except one of us, so he got the first “fish on” scramble.  Yup, he landed a nice size coho!

Then the storms came again.  Captain Ryan was very professional, and although our day ended early, it was no fault of Ryan’s.  He got us safely back to shore, and we all had an experience to tell our grandkids about!

We left the docks at 5:00 am and had our limit by 7:00 am!  Our catch was mostly coho with 3 nice king and 2-salmon mixed in.  We would definitely charter Captain Ryan’s boat again!
