Island Pursuit Sport Fishing

Km 43 Head Bay Road
Nootka BC, Canada

Island Pursuit Sport Fishing Charters takes you after Nootka’s fish palette - Chinook, Coho, Halibut, and Lingcod. These trips take place when Nootka waters hit the season peak, so there’ll be plenty of big fish around the boat.

In late July, the charter moves here from Comox, then spend a lucrative angling month filled with catch. If you want a West Coast package - meaning Salmon and then further off for Halibut and Lingcod - this is it. Otherwise, to see the action in Comox, click on the captain’s name further below.

Your guide for the day, Captain Steve Veloso, has numerous fishing trips to his name. He’s a seasoned angler who knows how to put up an enjoyable fishing escapade that will keep you coming back.

Once you set out, you‘ll get to try out top-of-the-line fishing gear, tackle, and equipment. This means Islander mooching reels, Shimano Technium rods, Scotty high power downriggers, 10 inch Lowrance electronics. All this onboard a 25’ Pursuit walkaround boat. It can take up to 4 anglers who will be served drinks and snacks, and have their catch cleaned and filleted.

But don’t get all the tech talk cool you off. These packages work great for newbie anglers and families with children. As long as you want to join and see how angling works, feel invited and welcome.

Trips around Nootka mean longer outings around the area. Typically, a three-day trip is the top pick, but if you want a shorter escapade, the chase will stay just as thrilling! You can arrange accommodation with the captain for additional charge, or take care of it on your own.

Before the trip, grab some shades, wear comfortable clothes, take sunscreen and a camera. Remember to take a saltwater fishing licence - you can get one online before the trip.

If you want a unique multiday trip, with a pro captain, top-notch equipment, and a hefty catch, don’t miss the fleeting month of August to book your Nootka trip.

I spent my first day on the water at 3 days old on my dad's Comercial fishing boat. Growing up helping him and going to school I got my own boat when I was 10. I used to work around a fish camp and when I turned 12 a got asked to take my first charter out for money, we did great and I was hooked. When I was 14 I started working for a lodge guiding. 16 I started fishing on the west coast and haida gwaii. 9 years ago I bought my first charter boat and started island pursuit sport fishing.
