4271 South Federal Highway, St…
Stuart FL, United States

772 Fly and Light Tackle Charters operate out of Stuart, Florida. Captain James Cronk grew up fishing these waters and has come to know them well over the years. He specializes in fishing for Snook, Redfish, Trout, and everything else that happens to be biting. Join him for your choice of light tackle or fly fishing in the shallow waters of the Treasure Coast!

Step aboard an 18’ Action Craft powered by a 90 HP Evinrude engine. This boat’s sleek design allows you to stalk the shallow waters with ease. On board you will find advanced fishing technology, including GPS, Fishfinder, and a wireless trolling motor. There is room on board for two to three passengers to fish comfortably, depending on the technique.

Capt. James will lead you through the inshore and coastal waterways of the Treasure Coast, anywhere from north Vero Beach to south Stuart. Depending on your interests, you might try sight casting for big Snook and Redfish on the flats, or target the early bite for Seatrout and Redfish. Experienced anglers can come aboard in the evening and fish under the docks for large Snook.

While casting lines in these waters you are likely to reel in a variety of other species, including Flounder, Ladyfish, Snapper, Grouper, and Bonefish on occasion. In late summer and fall, you may have a chance to fish for the infamous Tarpon, as well.

Capt. James provides top of the line tackle, including Temple Fork rods and reels by Shimano. He also supplies Orvis fly fishing equipment, along with everything else you need for a successful day (or night) on the water.

772 Fly and Light Tackle Charters include a fishing license and professional guidance in fly fishing, spin casting, and live bait fishing. Fly fishing trips are recommended for one or two passengers so you can cast your lines without tangling them. Catch and release is encouraged, but you may keep your catch if you would like, depending on the species.

As a Florida native who grew up on the treasure coast, fishing was just a way of life for me. I grew up fishing the treasure coast a few days a week, and I'm still fishing the same waters. My love for my home town waters runs deep and my knowledge of my waterways continues to grow. I mainly focus on trophy Snook, Trout, and Redfish with a fly rod or light tackle. You can find me in Alaska during summer months (June through late August), working in Bristol Bay as a fly fishing guide and casting instructor. There we target all five species of wild Salmon, Arctic Char, Grayling, snd wild Alaska Rainbow Trout. When I am not guiding, you can find me at home tying my own flies and fishing jigs and spending time with my girlfriend and her daughter. I run a kid-friendly operation and always try to pass on what I know to the next generation.

The wind was blowing about 25 mph, and the river was so rough I thought the tournament would be cancelled.  Instead, it was game on.  Captain James hustled us across the rough and windy river, and fished us in some select spots sheltered from the wind.  He had gotten up very early that morning and caught us some live bait.  As we fished, we caught several Jacks until he hooked me into a large snook.  We landed the 32 inch snook.  As we worked our way back to the tournament check in, we stopped and fished on last spot.  At that point we were fishing artificials, and hooked up both a trout and a redfish.  That completed the river slam for the tournament.  When we checked in, we won not only the tournament, but also had the largest fish in each category.

Going into this, I was not a big fan of river fishing.  By the end of the day, not only was I loving it, I am working on booking another trip with “772 Fly and Light Tackle Charters”  Captain James was professional, experienced, and friendly.  He had the right bait and the right equipment.

I had a great time with Capt. James fishing for trout, reds and snook on the Indian River. On my most recent trip with him I ended up with 20 or so trout up to 26 inches and 3 redfish (one over-slot) and 2 snook.  I also jumped 2 large tarpon and landed one of the biggest inshore jacks I’ve ever seen….about 35lbs!  I’ve fished with him about 10 times now over the last few years and have always had a great time!
