Hervey Bay Fishing Charters is a family business which has been running trips for more than 16 years around and offshore from Fraser Island, QLD. Depending on the trip, you will either be fishing the calm waters and reefs inshore, or heading out to 100-meter-plus depths out on the continental shelf.
You will be fishing aboard the KJ, a 30 ft Pro Marine offshore sportfisher with space for up to 8 anglers depending on the trip. She was fully restored in 2007 and is powered by twin Volvo engines with a combined output of 450HP, giving her a respectable cruising speed of 25 knots. The KJ comes equipped with GPS, fishfinder, outriggers, livewell, and everything you will need for your day’s fishing, including a choice of live bait and lures. The vessel also has a head and bed for extra comfort on longer trips.
During your trip you will be supplied with top-of-the-line Shimano tackle with a choice of weight classes, which can be set up to troll, drift, or bottom fish to your heart’s content, and you are also more than welcome to bring your own set-up if you prefer other styles of fishing. What you will be targeting depends on the trip you choose, as well as your personal preference.
For charters around the island itself you will find a great selection of inshore and reef species such as Snapper, Cod, Scarlet Sea Perch, Mackerel, Coral Trout and more, and if you go offshore you can also expect some great Tuna and Wahoo, and can even go out specifically for some great big game fishing for an all-star cast of pelagics including Sailfish, Marlin, Mahi Mahi and more!
All Hervey Bay Charters trips come with bait, water, soft drinks and sandwiches, as well as a catch cleaning service for anything you want to take away.
