Party of 5 with no experience shark fishing booked with Captain Ritchie for a shark fishing experience.  Within about 15 minutes of putting two lines in the water, my 18 year old son hooked up with a 9-10 foot tiger shark.  After a 30+ minute hard fight, we got it to the boat. What a magnificent beast!  Afterwards my brother-in-law and nephew landed a pair of blacktips.  Lastly, with time getting short, I had my turn and hooked up on a massive 12-foot tiger.  After fighting hard with this beast for about 20-minutes and stripping line off the reel, it surfaced about 40- yards out from the boat for about 30-seconds.  Having enough, it turned and began stripping more line and unfortunately broke off, apparently cutting the line with its tail.  Overall we were all pleased with everything and the experience did not disappoint.  Highly recommend and we will do it again next time we’re in Orange Beach!

What an amazing experience! Earlier that day we got cancelled by another Captain after waking up 5 and driving 20 min away, we were devastated to say the least. I had never been deep sea fishing and it was on my “bucket list”, we thought there was no way we would find another trip on such short notice. We contacted Russell’s Guide Service, told them what had happened, and they squeezed us in… And let me tell you it was the best experience of my life. The boat is clean, captain is amazing, he videoed and took pics, he knows where to catch the sharks for sure, we had one on the line in less than 7 min. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

We (myself, daughter and Son in Law) had an excellent experience.  Trolled for Mackerel and fished for sharks.  Did not have immediate success for the shark.  As we were timing out on our trip, I suggested to Capt. Ritchie that it would be ok to reel them in and head back.  But he insisted we keep on fishing.  The result was a fun fight, and boating a Black Tip for my daughter.  He was gracious in extending the time alotted to insure we had a successful experience.  Very pleasant man and experience!

Captain did a great job first we got a rain storm and captain kept us under a bridge fighting huge waves. Then we tried trolling and the sea weed was to thick. So we moved on to some shark. And that’s where the fun was sun came out and saved the day. Captain got us on some nice black top sharks we only landed one but we hooked up to three. Unfortunately two of them got off but we landed 1 between 70-90lbs. My brother and law and his son and my daughter ended up very happy with the trip.

Captain Russell put my son and I on sharks in less than 5 minutes of dropping our first line in pretty rough water and heavy rain. The conditions didn’t slow us down as the captain kept us on sharks non-stop! This was my son’s ( 9 years old ) first trip shark fishing and we definitely made some amazing memories!  In my 30+ years of fishing with charters Captain Russell is at the top of my list for reccomened charters!  Thanks for the memories and we will definitely be back to make more!
