Miss James Charters Sportfishing
Looking to chase Rockfish in the world-famous Chesapeake Bay? Family-run fishing company Miss James Charters can’t wait to welcome you aboard for an incredible adventure!
Captain Jerry Ashby and his wife, first mate Teresa Ashby, are the experienced team behind this charter company. With plenty of angling experience under their belts, they’ll introduce you to the thrills of fishing Maryland’s famous eastern shore and will do what it takes to get you on fish. They warmly welcome anglers of all ages and ability levels to come aboard and join them.
You’ll be fishing aboard the "Miss James II," a locally-built Roe Marine boat with a Chesapeake Deadrise fiberglass hull. At 32’ long and 11’ wide, she has plenty of space for groups of up to 6 to fish from. Her John Deere marine diesel engine allows her to traverse the local waters quickly and reliably. She also features a private toilet!
The Miss James II is conveniently moored in Tilghman, which means she has access to some of the bay’s finest fishing spots, as well as being located in a friendly fishing community. Where better to discover the Chesapeake’s incredible Striper population?
On your angling adventure, you’ll mainly be targeting Rockfish (Striped Bass). The trophy season starts in mid-April and runs until mid-May – this is the best time to catch a 50 pounder! During the rest of the year, you’ll usually target additional species such as Black Drum and Bluefish, as well as smaller Rockfish, although the larger species do return in October.
Your captain and his first mate will make sure you’re decked out with all the fishing equipment and licenses you need for a successful day on the water. All you need to do is grab your favorite snacks and drinks, and hop aboard Miss James Charters for a Chesapeake Bay adventure you’ll never forget!
