Miss James Charters is a family-run fishing charter company that offers professional Rockfish fishing trips in the Chesapeake Bay. The experienced captain and 1st mate will show you the thrills of fishing Maryland’s famous eastern shore and will do what it takes to get you on the fish.
You will be fishing aboard the Miss James II, a locally built Roe Marine boat with a Chesapeake Deadrise fiberglass hull. At 32 ft long and 11 ft wide, the boat has plenty of space for groups of up to six to fish off, and its John Deere marine diesel engine allows it to traverse the local waters quickly and reliably. This is a smooth riding boat that handles the Bay’s chop very well, and while it is a ‘no-frills’ fishing boat, it does feature a private ‘head’ (marine restroom).
The Miss James II is conveniently moored in Tilghman, which allows Miss James Charters to access some of the bay’s best fishing spots easily while also being in a very friendly community. When you fish aboard this boat you will be mainly targeting Rockfish (Striped Bass). The trophy season starts in mid April and runs until mid May. This is the best time to catch a 50 pounder. In late May when the fish start to be a little smaller, there are still plenty to catch. During the summer months you will usually target additional species such as Black Drum and Bluefish, as well as smaller Rockfish. The larger fish usually come back to the bay by October, and Miss James II will usually be seen taking sharter trips out onto the water into December.
Anglers of all ages and ability levels are welcome to enjoy a trip with Miss James Charters, and all the equipment and licenses you will need will be furnished by the company.
