Florida Fishing Headquarters

84001 Overseas Highway
Islamorada FL, United States

Florida Fishing Headquarters provides a fun fishing experience for your family and friends, and promises that you will leave with a memory to last you a lifetime.  Whether you are looking for a relaxing day on the water, or are a hard-core angler looking to catch some serious fish, Captain Steve will be able to accommodate you. He is really good at passing his knowledge on to his guests and will be able to put you on your catch if you follow his advice and promise to have fun while learning.

His boat is a Hewes Flats boat, which is powered by a 250 HP Yamaha SHO engine. It is a fast and secure vessel able to navigate the choppy waters easily. It contains a GPS, a VHF radio and a fishfinder, as well as life jackets, fire extinguishers, an ice box, a live bait tank and a wireless trolling motor to make it extra quite when trolling for certain species in the shallow waters.

Florida Fishing Headquarters will be able to put you on whichever species you are after catching - whether you want to target a specific species like Snook, Tarpon and Redfish, or just go out and catch as many fish as possible, like Snapper, Trout, Jack Crevalle, Sharks or Tripletail. He will supply you with the necessary equipment such as rods, reels and tackle. He will also catch live bait that you will use on your trip, and is also able to supply lures, a fishing licence, and upon return to the shore he can clean and fillet your catch.

Captain Steve has been fishing and guiding in Florida since 1997, and has over 40 years fishing experience which has seen him fish inland lakes and rivers throughout North America, as well as the Florida Keys region. He is also an expert fly fisherman for Salmon, Steelhead and Trout. He spent many years fly fishing the tributaries of Lake Michigan and the rivers, streams and lakes in Montana. He loved the year-round fishing scene in Florida so much, that he started his Florida FIshing Headquarters Charter business in 1998 and has not looked back since. Captain Steve was very knowledgeable and experienced. The weather was great, and we did catch fish. But for what we paid, I was expecting something more than pinfish, puffer and under sized snapper. No fish worth keeping or picture worthy. We had a good time, but I’ve caught better fish in Wisconsin.

Everyone who does a lot of fishing knows - not every day is a great day “catching”.  We fished the Gulf for Spanish Mackerel (and others).  The 3 previous days in that same area we were hooking up on every cast or every other cast with 2 to 6 pound Spanish and many other species.  I have done a lot of fishing in Wisconsin and on a slow day up there - you don’t catch anything.  Here in the Keys when you have a slow day - you will still catch something.  It was a very slow day here with Kevin…but we did catch Speckled Sea Trout, Mangrove Snapper, Blue Runners, 1 Spanish Mackerel, Jack Crevalle, Remora, Puffer Fish, Pinfish and probably a few others.  The fish were small ... but that was just how fishing went that day.  Yesterday we fished one of the same areas and caught our limit of nice keeper Mangrove Snapper.  I kept Kevin and his wife out for an extra hour and discounted them $180 off the price they thought they were supposed to pay.  They were all smiles and laughing the entire trip and left thanking me for the great time they had.  I enjoyed fishing with them.
