Description

Try your hand at tagging and releasing a Marlin Grand Slam with Red Hot Fishing Charters out of the world famous fishing destination of Port Stephens. This extremely experienced crew fishes out of this port every year between January and March, and they have been doing so for over a decade. With a fast and comfortable boat, high quality tackle, and a sound knowledge of the local fishing grounds, they provide every guest who comes aboard their boat with the opportunity to experience big game fishing as it should be.

The Red Hot 1 is an 8.3 meter Whitepointer vessel whose solid fiberglass hull gives an unusually comfortable ride in the open seas. The boat was designed specifically for Red Hot Fishing Charters and it is licensed to travel up to 30 nautical miles offshore anywhere in Australia. Powered by twin Suzuki engines, the boat cruises at around 22 knots in average conditions and can reach speeds of up to 45 knots. This means you will be able to maximise your time on the water, especially as the Red Hot is often the first out of the dock and the last to return. The boat is fully equipped with top of the range electronics by Furuno and Lowrance, and skipper Simon is meticulous about keeping it neat, clean and tidy.

The attractive tourist destination of Port Stephens is just two hours’ drive from Sydney and an hour and a half on the plane from Melbourne. But people don’t only flock here because it is accessible: they come because it hosts all three of the Southern Hemisphere’s Marlin Species (Blue, Black, and Striped), and Red Hot Fishing Charters often see people tagging and releasing up to ten Marlins in a single day. The skipper’s personal best on a charter in this area is 16!

Not only are these waters perfect for billfish enthusiasts, they also host Mahi Mahi, Yellowtail Kingfish, Mako Sharks, and Yellowfin Tuna. Join Skipper Simon and see what it’s like to experience some of the best big game fishing in the world!

About the Captain

Simon Rinaldi
Port Stephens, New South Wales, Australia
Member since November 2016
I'm a 3rd generation fishermen to the Rinaldi family, I have been fishing since I was aged 3 where I caught my first snapper in Melbourne's Port Phillip Bay. I have fished ever since! I have always loved all aspects of fishing and my love and passion for this sport is now my full time job. I have fished most of the way around Australia and also in Indonesia. I have a huge passion for game fishing as well as the Snapper fishing in Melbourne. I have caught Black Marlin, Blue Marlin and Striped Marlin while fishing solo on the east coast of Aust between the Gold Coast and Bermagui but over the past 10 years most of my Marlin fishing takes place at Port Stephens, where I run my summer Marlin charters. One of my best days' fishing Port Stephens was on charter - we tagged 10 Striped Marlin and a Black Marlin in one day! We also tagged 16 Black Marlin in a single day off the Gold Coast. I have also honed my skills fishing Portland Victoria where we have now caught 52 blue fin over 100 kg!
