First Class Fishing - Shekinah

Cortecito Beach
Punta Cana, Dominican Republic

First Class Fishing Charters in Punta Cana has been in business since 1992 and has since then put countless smiles on their guests’ faces and fish on their hooks. They are a well organized and experienced crew who put a lot of energy into maintaining their boats, keeping them clean and educating their customers on the fishing techniques and fish. They will help you any way they can in order to see you reeling in the fish of your dreams.  Their Captains and Mates, some of whom fished these very same waters as kids, know where the fish hide, they know all the best “hot spots”.

You will fish aboard their 42 foot Bertram offshore sport fishing boat, which was originally built in 1992 and restored in 2015. This beauty is powered by two 450 HP Detroit engines and runs smoothly on choppy waters. The boat is equipped with a GPS, a VHF radio, a fishfinder and a radar, as well as the necessary safety equipment such as life jackets, a life raft, fire extinguishers and a first-aid kit. You will also find its flybridge and toilet very useful, especially if you are spending the day out on the water with kids. The icebox will preserve the freshness of the catch until you return to the shore.

First Class Fishing Charters will take you fishing in the Punta Cana offshore waters, and depending on the trip you take, you can go 2 to 10 miles offshore as the big game fish stay close to the shore in this region. You will target Blue Marlin, White Marlin, Sailfish, Mahi Mahi and King Mackerel which are all plentiful in this area. The crew will provide you with rods, reels, tackle, and baits, as well as a fishing license and snacks and drinks, so you can have a beautiful stress free day on the sea. If you are taking the full day trip, please bring some lunch. It is advisable you always bring sun hats, sunglasses, sunscreen and towels on all trips in order to shield yourself from the tropical sun of Punta Cana.

The water was clear but alittle choppy would have been better if we caught fish but that is the way it goes sometimes.Overall was a good trip.

I was picked up at my hotel and was taken to a different boat, so I was not on the Shekinah though that is what I selected and paid for.  Felt like a total bait and switch.  The Shekinah was not at the beach where I was taken. The boat I was put on was disgusting—dirty, falling apart, screws sticking out of the fiberglass, and big holes in the glass.  The crew that did not speak one work of english—though they were nice people.  My biggest concern was the general lack of saefty.  The boat did not seem sea worthy, and there was no equipment on the boat like a radio, gps, etc.  The captain used a cell phone to make phone calls.  Sometimes you get what you pay for
