Harbour Fishing Charters

Havannah Harbour
Port Vila, Vanuatu

Harbour Fishing Charters operates out of the beautiful and serene Havannah Harbour running a variety of fishing trips in the area’s pristine waters. Located on the island’s Northeast corner, this sheltered bay sits right on the “Marlin Highway”, an area famous for its incredible billfishing, and for the huge variety of species which pass by throughout the year.

You will be fishing aboard a 22 ft Stabicraft sportfisherman powered by twin Yamaha outboards up to a cruising speed of 25 knots. This hardy and reliable vessel has plenty of room aboard for 3 anglers, and comes equipped with everything you could ask for for a great day’s fishing: GPS, fishfinder, outriggers, downriggers, and even tuna tubes - she packs a lot of gear for her size!

What you will be fishing depends hugely on when you go, with Mahi Mahi, Wahoo, and Striped and Black Marlins making seasonal appearances across the winter months, and Blue Marlin, Yellowfin Tuna, GTs and more found all year round. No matter when you go, though, you can be sure that Harbour Fishing Charters will provide you with nothing but the best Shimano rods and reels set up for a variety of techniques including a choice of light and heavy tackle, and the option to bottom fish, troll, spin, pop, and jig to maximise your chances if the rods stop bending.

All Harbour Fishing Charters trips come with live bait, drinks, and a cleaning and filleting service for whatever you want to take away, and 6 and 8 hour trips also come with lunch to keep you stamina up on those hard-fought days.

About the Captain

Mitch Clement
Port Vila, Vanuatu
Member since December 2016
In September 1999 I traveled to Vanuatu with 14 members of the Middle Island fishing club from Kalgoorlie WA to try our luck game fishing in the South Pacific. From the moment we arrived I fell in love with the place and the people and came back 2 months later and invested here. I moved to Port Vila in 2003 to manage a resort I had built. This was sold in 2010 and I have been doing fishing charters since. We are located in the serene waters of Havannah Harbour and even on charterless days I am out finding new jigging or popping spots to take anglers. So many options.

We caught a few fish and was good but the skipper was very rude and had a temper and was really rude to his deckhand if we had to go again we would choose another boat

A great day out with Mitch and Deckhand Nick. Targeted Yellow Fin Tuna (YFT) and Poulet and succeeded with both. First YFT Popping which was awesome. Cheers Mitch, a memorable day.

I booked a full day charter with Mitch and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Mitch and his deckhand Nick were great and really knew what they were doing. All the equipment was in good condition and up to date and the boat was perfect for fishing in Vanuatu. While I was in Vanuatu Mitch and his crew managed to catch a number of large Yellowfin Tuna (50-60kg) throughout the week and he kept me informed of the conditions leading up to my charter. The day of my charter we managed to catch 2 Yellowfin Tuna with the largest being around 55kg!
