Crooked Rod Charters:Tarpon Is King

210 Winson Avenue
Englewood FL, United States

Crooked Rod Charters is located in Englewood, Florida. They are run and operated by one of the best Tarpon fishing specialists, Captain Keith. Having spent countless hours on the water chasing the fish and learning their habits, Keith has gained a vast knowledge and knows when and where are the best chances of catching Tarpon.

You will be fishing aboard a 20’ Action Craft flats boat with a 200 HP Mercury outboard engine. It can take up to four anglers. The vessel is all ready to take you to the best places in South-West Florida that hold Tarpon all year round. There is a wireless trolling motor, an anchoring system to make sure you stay where you want to, and a live bait tank.

Captain Keith can take you fishing inshore to Charlotte Harbor, El Jobean, Lemon Bay, and Boca Grande, as well as to Myakka River and Peace River, flats, and backcountry. Among a variety of fishing techniques, you will be able to use light and heavy tackle, trolling, spinning, and jigging. Your main target will be Tarpon, but as it can sometimes be stubborn, you will get a chance to chase Redfish, Trout, Black Drum, Cobia, and Snook, which is the Captain’s distant second favorite.

Captain Keith is especially great with kids. His main reason for becoming a USCG licensed captain was to introduce more kids to fishing. Keith offers free charters through local and national charities, hospitals, churches, and other organizations.  There is nothing as rewarding for Captain Keith as seeing a smile on a child’s face!

Your trip will include all the necessary fishing equipment, including rods, reels, tackle, licenses, live bait, and lures. The Captain will offer some drinks and you can feel free to bring your own snacks on board.

Crooked Rod Charters are sure: Tarpon fishing is not just a hobby, it’s a passion. Book now and welcome aboard!

About the Captain

Keith Magnussen

I grew up all over the midwest. Graduated with a Bachelor's of Business Admin from University of Michigan. Like a lot of people I was bitten by the fishing bug when my Grandpa took me out for my first sunfish and bullhead fishing trip, and it's been a passion ever since. I moved to Florida in 2003 and catching saltwater fish that would eat my biggest freshwater fish for a snack was simply amazing to me. Then when I was introduced to tarpon my life changed. Other than my family there is nothing more significant in my life than tarpon. It is without a doubt on my mind 24/7. I hope I can share that passion with you.
