The Southern Fly

Whether you’re looking to pick up a rod for the first time, or you’re a seasoned pro looking for that fishing fix, The Southern Fly has you covered. Head out of the prominent fishing communities just south of New Orleans and discover some of Louisiana’s – and the country’s – best fishing opportunities.

Captain Dave Best will be your guide. A fishing addict for over 15 years, he fell in love with the sport after fishing these very waters and hauling in 30 Redfish. He hopes to get you reeling in with the same success rate, and promises to do whatever he can to help make your fishing dreams come true.

The 17’ Beavertail skiff is just the vessel to navigate the shallow waters of the marshlands. A light vessel, she can stay afloat in even the skinniest spots, and will speed off across the open waters with ease thanks to the 70 HP Yamaha engine. Up to 2 guests are welcome aboard for a true Louisiana fishing experience, making use of the rods, reels, fly equipment, or feel free to bring your own.

Chase after some highly prized fish throughout your time aboard and test your skills against these tough creatures. On the fly or while sight casting, you can expect to go after beautiful Redfish, while you’ll use a more conventional method to reel in a Trout, Black Drum, or Sheepshead. One thing that’s certain, though, is that you’re in for a thrilling day proving your strength against these beasts.

Capt. Dave strives to make you feel at home, so just ask him if there’s anything specific you would like to do. Children over the age of 6 are welcome to get hooked on fishing, just make sure that they are accompanied by a parent. Other than that, there’s nothing else to do but get booking, grab your fishing license, and hop aboard. You’re in for a memorable day with The Southern Fly.
