North Bay Charter offers exciting fishing trips on Southeast Michigan’s lakes Huron and Lake St Clair. You will enjoy a day on the water in the Muskie and Walleye capital of the entire country, aboard a fine sport fishing vessel and in the company of an experienced captain.
The charter is operated by Captain Tom Arlington who’s been running it for over 40 years and has enjoyed seeing many satisfied customers he’s taken out. This kind and interesting person is well informed about the local fisheries, and will gladly share his knowledge with you.
You will fish aboard his 24-foot Shamrock offshore sport fishing boat, originally built in 2003, and restored in 2013. It is powered by a 210 HP Ford engine, with a maximum cruising speed of 20 knots. This gives it perfect speed on the lakes when locating the productive spots or moving between them.
The boat is fully equipped with all the safety and electronic features such as life jackets and a fishfinder. It features a toilet and has cabin facilities for your comfort, and has a set of outriggers and downriggers to maximize the catch.
North Bay Charters will take you fishing for various species such as Salmon and Trout from April to June, Walleye and Bass from May to August, Perch from May to October, and Muskie and Northern Pike from June to October.
Depending on the species you wish to target, Captain Tom will take you to the lake where they can be found the most. He will provide you with the fishing gear, but you are welcome to bring your own if that’s what you prefer. Just make sure to let him know in advance so he can make room on the boat for your equipment.
You will leave out of one of the following ports: Port Sanilac, Harbor Beach, and Harsens Island. Captain Tom will advise you in advance where you’ll meet so you can embark on a fishing adventure of a lifetime.

My father - who loves to fish and was visiting from Singapore - and I went out with Captain Tom for half a day. And we had the best time. Harsens Island is such an oasis, with waters teeming with lake wildlife. We left promptly at 7am and fished for the next 5 and a half hours, as Captain Tom had promised. He was friendly, helpful and professional. He had ample fishing rods (6 total) for trawling for Walleye, and other rods for catching Perch. And boy did we do well - we caught a total of 23 fish, including two large Walleyes and a giant Catfish. Our experience was fun and memorable, and my dad absolutely loved it. We’ll definitely be back at the next opportunity.

Strictly speaking, this turned out not to be a charter. Captain Tom Arlington explained that what we wanted to do would not work out because of weather considerations. Rain and cool water temps would not get us many walleye by trolling at the time. He said if we were willing to split our group and go in small boats, we’d catch fish. He also explained the boats were not licensed or inspected as charters and we would not be obligated to pay because of this. Our consensus? We wanted to catch fish. We were fine with the equipment and splitting up. Tom and Jarrod did not disappoint. We got our limit and I got a one-off of a smallmouth (not in season-went back after he got his portrait done). We are already talking about going again. Tom’s goal is customer service and getting you to the fish. That was our goal too.

The temps are moving fish up the coast. Laker trout predominate but more silver fishing are coming. Today we went 4 for 4 with this beautiful salmon of 10 plus pounds. Fishing will improve very soon ! Read Full Report →
