Sea Born Fishing Charters
About this listing
Sea Born is a 45’ vessel outfitted with a range of amenities and a maximum capacity of 6 anglers per trip. The boat is equipped with a conventional selection of navigational and fish finding technology (GPS, Fishfinder and radio), and features a multimedia system on board for you to enjoy during your trip. Sea Born is air conditioned and outfitted with a toilet on board; a cooler with ice can also be found among the boat’s amenities.
The Sea Born team consists of the Captain and owner Alex Oben and his longtime Mate Baps Aguste “Eneau”. Together, they combine upwards of 25 years of fishing experience, which they put to work each day to guide you to the best local fishing grounds. The offshore waters of San Juan are frequented by a large variety of game fish throughout the year: here, you can get hooked up with anything from a 10-pound Barracuda, a tasty Mahi Mahi, and sometimes even a large Blue Marlin in excess of 600 pounds.
Appropriate fishing equipment as well as artificial bait for all parties on board are supplied by the Captain and crew. You’ll also find a fighting chair on board, ready for the moment you encounter a fish that won’t give up without a fight. Following the trip, if you caught something that you’d like to take with you home or to a nearby restaurant, the crew will gladly clean and filet your catch for you.
Sea Born can comfortably accommodate parties of up to 6 anglers looking for a deep sea adventure. Soft drinks and bottled water for the trip are provided for all members of your party. Fishing licenses for all occupants of the boat for the day will also be covered by Captain Alex at no additional charge.
15% deposit charged upfront by FishingBooker to guarantee your reservation. The remaining balance is to be paid directly to the captain on or prior to your trip date in one of the following payment methods: Cash, Visa, Master Card, Check.

I hesitated in making this review. I watched a few saltwater fishing episodes. made contact with others who have gone. My wife and I showed up with a 9 & 11 year old for a 4 hour charter. We have all experienced water, boating and crazy activities. The wind was blowing, hard. This was not a gentle breeze. We told them this was our first fishing experience. Yes, it was exciting to go out in a 40 foot boat. No, it was not pleasurable to be in 10+ foot swells that were throwing the boat around. In one turn, water crashed over the side. I would love to say I am exaggerating, but when the waves are coming from the South and East, causing the captain to maneuver the boat into a turn, you know you shouldn’t be out there. It was a very poor decision to take us out. we were all throwing up by the time we finally called it quits. To be told by other guests at our hotel, and by family back home that we should not have been out in those swells and wind. Our captain could have called it off and told us that it was not going to be enjoyable, much less, tolerable, we would have accepted that. He didn’t. This was a choice of money over clients. It was a poor choice. I doubt that we will put off-shore fishing on any future plans ever again.

We had a beautiful sunny day for fishing!! The Captain was very friendly and helpful. The boat was very clean and had a spacious cabin where you could get out of the sun, if you needed to. The only thing I would recommend is for the First Mate to explain the process of catching fish, in case you DID happen to catch one!! I think the fishing had been very slow due to Tropical Storm Erika, so maybe he thought we wouldn’t catch anything. But when my sis in law snagged a Marlin, she had NO idea what to do or how to reel the Marlin in!! Luckily, we all pitched in to help her get the fish to the boat, took pictures and then let the 100-120 pound fish go!! We thoroughly enjoyed out trip !!
