If you are looking for some incredible fishing grounds where you could battle anything from Bonefish and Barracuda to Permit and Tarpon, head to Belize. Captain Don Muelrath and his crew will meet you directly at the Belize International Airport, and, within half an hour, you will be on the board the ‘Meca,’ getting ready to start the trip for a lifetime.
The Meca is a 45’ boat with a wide beam of 14 and a half feet, which gives her an incredibly stable ride. Depending on the size of your group, she will tow either one or two 23’ shallow draft skiffs, each equipped with 40 HP engines for fishing the flats. The Meca features two spacious, air-conditioned cabins, each furnished with oversized single beds and their own en-suite bathrooms. An extra skiff and guide can be hired for an additional $1600.
The Meca has become a staple part of the Belize fly fishing scene. She was built back in 1999 by the legendary Belize guide, Martin McCord. She was designed with one purpose in mind – to be the perfect mothership for fly fishing around Belize.
Enjoy a trip with everything provided. All permits, lunch, beer, soft drinks, water, and snacks will be included in the trip. Once on board, you will find top-notch fly fishing gear, along with conventional rods, reels, and tackle, as well as live bait and lures.
