YAK - Kayak Fishing & Charters
, SC 29576, United States
YAK Kayak Fishing & Charters specializes in inshore fishing in two very different ways, running both guided kayak trips and charter boat services in the Myrtle Beach area. Wanting to share their passion kayak fishing, but knowing it is not for everyone, Captains Mike Eady and Johnny Wigfall decided to offer the best of both worlds, with a top of the line charter boat working both as a fishing platform in her own right, and also as a mothership for kayaking adventures, making sure you still have the time and energy to actually catch some fish by the time you get to the best spots!
The YAK mothership is a 22 ft Carolina Skiff center console freshly built in 2017. She is powered by a 115HP Suzuki engine and cruises at an impressive 43 knots, allowing you to get straight out to the best waters. The vessel comes equipped with GPS, fishfinder, a live bait tank, and everything you will need for your day’s fishing.
The YAK kayak fleet boast less tech, but just as much fun! The beauty of these boats is their ability to sneak up on even the spookiest of fish thanks to their silent movement and low profile in the water. This is not to say you will be out there with nothing, as each kayak comes equipped with high quality fishing tackle and plenty of bait to lure in a whole net-full of fish
YAK Kayak Fishing & Charters is based around always providing a fun, unique fishing experience tailored to what the client wants. Boat-based charters will fish the inlets for Redfish, Trout, Flounder and more, and heading up to 10 miles out in search of species who prefer deeper waters, such as Sheepshead and Spanish Mackerel. On Kayak trips you will be taken out to spots which can be too far to paddle out to. You will be joined in the water by one of the YAK guides who will talk you through all the tricks and techniques specific to this style of fishing to make sure you’re pulling in the very best all day.

Mike was fun to fish with. We had some luck trolling with a few mackerel and blue fish. Finished up the trip with some inshore fishing trying for trout, flounder and reds. Unfortunately we did not get a bite the entire time. This was most likely a result of a very cold winter and unseasonably cool spring. Water temperatures were about ten degrees below average for this time of year. I’m sure given the right conditions Mike can put you on the fish.
