Maranatha is a 40’ Berger boat that was restored in 2018, and is powered by twin Ford Lemand 135HP engines. The vessel sports a spacious and comfortable double cabin, a capacious sun deck, an elegant interior seating area as well as a platform in the back. There’s an icebox for food and drinks and a large restaurant-like table. Maranatha has access to fresh water, as well as a private restroom.
As for equipment on board, Maranatha is outfitted with a GPS, sounder, radio and CD player, as well as a variety of security equipment, including life jackets, life belt, first aid kit and a fire extinguisher. For fishing, the boat uses Penn International reels (3x 130lbs, 3x 80lbs, 2x 50lbs), and utilizes a range of big game lures. A fighting chair, outriggers, downriggers, and a center rigger, as well as snorkeling equipment, can also be found among the boat’s amenities.
The offshore grounds off the Mauritian coast are abundant with game fish virtually all year round, including species such as Marlin, Wahoo, Tuna, Dorado, Sailfish and more. The trips usually start between 6 and 8 a.m. Thanks to the island’s positioning, you get to start fishing about 5 minutes outside of the lagoon. The lines get wet, as the crew puts out lures of different colors and sizes and sets the brakes off the reels. Trips include the use of high-quality fishing gear, live bait, lures, fishing licenses, soft drinks and mineral water.
