Dave’s Guide Service operates year round out of Toleda, WA, running river fishing trips targeting Salmon and Steelhead in the tributaries of the Columbia River. The rivers of the Pacific Northwest are famous for their amazing fish stock, as well as their untouched nature, and Dave’s Guide Service offers everything you need to get the very most out of these remote northern waters.
The vessel you will be fishing aboard is a 23 ft Alumaweld boat with room aboard for up to 6 guests. She is powered by a 225HP Yamaha SHO outboard to a speedy 33 knots, and comes equipped with GPS, fishfinder, a trolling motor for sneaking up to the best fishing spots, and everything you will need you for a great day on the river.
Dave’s Guide Service specializes in catching the best fish the rivers have to offer depending on the season, with awesome catches to be found in all four seasons. The winter months of January and February are perfect for those looking to catch and release some trophy Steelhead, with 20lb + specimens regularly being pulled in. March is the time to target the huge runs of hatchery Steelhead on the Cowlitz River, making for a great battle on light tackle and a delicious meal at the end of the day.
Spring is the season for the first Chinook Salmon, a delicious fish made extra tasty by its high fat content. After this the summer Steelhead run starts, making for hard-fought battles in the warm summer weather - quite simply the perfect day out! Fall is when you will see the huge runs of Pacific Salmon, fall Chinook, and Coho make their way into the rivers. During this season you can expect to pull in multiple fish per day, and come away with a whole cooler full of fish.
No matter when you choose to go you can be sure of two things - great fish and an awesome time! Captain Dave Mallahan knows these waters like nobody else, he loves nothing more than sharing their beauty with his clients, and passing on the tricks and tips he has built up over a lifetime on the water.
