1 Arm Bandit Guide Service specializes in fishing the Columbia River and its tributaries. The charter company is based Vancouver, Washington, and is run and operated by Captain R.J. He is a professional guide with over 13 years of experience in the local water.

Take a ride with Captain R.J. aboard his 25-ft North River boat, which comes powered by a 250 HP Yamaha engine. It has a maximum cruising speed of 42 knots and can comfortably take up to six anglers. The vessel is wheelchair accessible and is equipped with top-notch navigational electronics, which include Furuno GPS and fish finder, as well as a VHF radio. There is a wireless trolling motor for a quiet ride to the fishing grounds, an anchoring system to stay rooted, and an ice-box to keep your catch fresh during the day.

1 Arm Bandit Guide Service offers trips that are eight hours for a full day and four hours for a half day. You will fish some of the most beautiful scenery in the world, going to spots such as the Columbia River Gorge, so make sure you don’t forget your camera as this can be an unforgettable trip!

There are year-round opportunities for fishing in the Pacific Northwest for a multitude of species, such as Salmon, Steelhead, Shad, Sturgeon, and Crab. 1 Arm Bandit Guide Service specializes in drift fishing, trolling, and light tackle.

Each trip with 1 Arm Bandit Guide Service comes inclusive with all the necessary fishing equipment to put your catch together. You will be provided with rods, reels, tackle, and lures. Once caught, your fish will be cleaned and filleted for a ride home, where you could try it for dinner later or just fill the freezer. What is more, Captain R.J. won’t leave you starving: you will be offered drinks and snacks during the trip, so you are only responsible for your fishing licenses.

What we fish for and where we fish will be dependent on the time of year. Sturgeon, Steelhead, Salmon, and Shad are among the popular catches. At certain times of the year, all half day charters will be done in the afternoon as many of my days for the peak seasons are booked a year in advance.

I started fishing when I was 4 years old and have been hooked ever since I knew by the time that I was 13 that my career would somehow revolve around fishing. I own and operate the 1 Arm Bandit Guide Service. I have been fishing the Columbia River and its tributaries for over 30 years and have been a professional guide for the past 14 years. I lost my left arm in a commercial fishing accident in 2001(hence the name of my business) then started guiding in 2003. I am Coast Guard licenced and insured as well as trained in CPR and First Aid.
