Down the Bayou Charters

Grand Isle LA, United States

Down the Bayou Charters welcomes you aboard for the ultimate offshore adventure, heading 100+ miles out into the cold blue heart of the Gulf of Mexico. With trips running anywhere from 6 through 24 hours, you can pretty much target anything in the gulf, from Snapper, and Grouper, to Wahoo, Tuna, Marlin, and more!.

Captain Joey’s 42’ Fincat catamaran is the pride and joy of the Down the Bayou fleet. Newly-built in 2017, this luxury vessel was purpose-built to dominate the deep. Her twin 350HP Yamaha engines rocket you into the gulf at speeds of up to 50 knots, where her all-new electronics pinpoint the very best places to fish.

Once there, outriggers and downriggers allow you to target multiple species and depths at the same time. The livewell is always full of fresh live bait, and the selection of lures is second to none. Add to that tournament-grade tackle for a variety of techniques and weight classes, and it becomes clear this is a charter like no other.

Now you have the boat, you need to pick the fish. What you target depends on the time of year you fish, with different species peaking throughout the year. Spring kicks off in a frenzy of screaming drag, with huge Wahoo racing through the gulf. By the time June hits, there are only two word on everyone’s lips: Red Snapper. Anglers flood to town to target this famously delicious fish, and you would be a fool to miss its short season!

Just as the Snapper are ruled out, Blue Marlin hit their prime, and you can chase every sportfisher’s dream of landing that elusive Grander. After that, you can wrap up the year with arguably the best fishing for large Yellowfin Tuna, with schools heading in as close as the continental shelf from September through December.

No matter when you book, there is something special waiting offshore, and the perfect boat to get you there. So head down to Grand Isle, LA, and get ready to make some dreams come true!

This trip was awesome!  The captains were helpful, resourceful, and created a great experience for all 6 of us.  Their 42-ft center-console catamaran was a fast and smooth ride, and provided plenty of fishing space for all 6 of us.  They provided all of the tackle and bait and were on top of things when we needed bait on our hooks or help landing a fish.  They also were very knowledgeable about the various species of fish and how to catch them.  They adapted to conditions as they changed and kept us catching fish all day long.  They also cleaned and bagged all of our fish at the end of the trip.  We will definitely call them again next time.
