“Reel Knowledge Fishing” offers exciting adventures on the waters surrounding Sarasota, Florida. He works hard to provide excellent service while putting you on the fish of your dreams!

Your vessel for the day is a 23' Nauticstar Tournament Edition saltwater fishing boat, with a T-Top for shade, which can comfortably accommodate up to 4 anglers. She’s outfitted with the latest in navigational electronics, including GPS and Fishfinder, as well as a live well and ice box to keep your catch fresh.

You’ll explore the Sun Coast's beautiful waters in search of a variety of delicious inshore and nearshore fish. Explore the backcountry and flats and you'll hook into the likes of Snook, Redfish, and spotted sea trout as well as many other inshore and near shore species.

Capt. Josh brings along all the gear and live bait you need for a successful day. If you decide to keep any of your catch, he’ll clean and fillet it for you after you’ve returned to the dock. Bring along any drinks and snacks you’d like to enjoy and you’re ready to head out!

Single Angler Fishing Lesson on January 14, 2025 • 2 adults

I recently moved to Sarasota from up North where I had a lot of fishing experience on the Chesapeake Bay but no experience in FL. I sought out a guide who was willing to teach local fishing and not just take me out for a day. Josh was the man! He got what I was trying to accomplish and totally delivered. He was patient with all my questions and totally unselfish in sharing knowledge on equipment, techniques and fishing spots. In about 3 hours I caught 7 nice fish in 4 different species which Josh helped me identify (Spotted Sea Trout, Snook, Flounder and Sheep Head). I am now confident I can go out and do it myself. But also if you just want to go out for a great day of fishing and to just let it happen Josh is the man! I highly recommend Reel Knowledge.

Took a 2hr charter because of unsure people’s stomach. Captain was a great guy and checked to make sure everyone was feeling great. We all learned about the types of fish we were going to catch and the technique on how to catch them. Definitely family friendly and also ready for a guys outing. Afterwards he took the time to prepare the fish for a local restaurant to prepare if we chose. Only complaint not enough time. 👍🏻

Targeted species caught!

Half Day Trip (AM) on May 22, 2025 • 2 adults

Capt. Josh was fantastic! He took care of all of our wants as far as our half day fishing trip was concerned. The tide was not ideal, but we still caught several speckled trout, even a couple double hook-ups! We moved to a different location and were able to boat a few under slot reds. We would definitely fish with Capt. Josh again!! Thanks for a very nice memorable fishing day!!!

Great day with Captain Josh. We went out for 4 hours starting at 8:30. We caught snook, trout, mackarel, and others. Josh was a great captain and instructor. Would love to go out with him again.

Excellent Trip with Josh

We had 4 people attend our trip with Captain Josh. All of us caught multiple fish and had a great time on the water. Josh was super friendly, knowledgeable, & patient with us. He was very engaged and ensured all of us were having an enjoyable time. Josh took us to multiple locations to fish and was able to comfortably get us situated with all of the gear
