Lake Run Fly & Guide

Church Street
Oswego NY, United States

Lake Run Fly & Guide specializes in fishing trips through the Lake Ontario tributary waters. The company is based in Oswego, New-Work and mainly fishes the Salmon and Oswego Rivers in upstate New York, as well as many smaller tributaries.

You will go out aboard a 17-foot Willie drift boat, which is a comfortable vessel that comes powered by a Yamaha outboard engine. The boat is equipped to run up many of the bigger bodies of water in search of your next trophy and can comfortably take up to two anglers.

Fishing in Lake Ontario tributaries is an exciting experience for any angler. Each season brings new angling opportunity. In September, you can target large Chinook Salmon as they begin their yearly spawning run. Chinook are simply massive and can leave even an experienced fisherman shaking! You will absolutely enjoy the fish striking skein, plugs, and swung flies with aggression. If you want to chase some world class trophy Steelhead and Brown Trout, you can book a trip in October through May.

The month of May begins the Walleye season, which again are trophy size fish. Walleye commonly reach 10 lbs. June through August, you can chase warm water species like Bass and Northern Pike.

Lake Run Fly & Guide will provide you with traditional spinning gear, centerpin, and fly outfits. No matter what technique you are looking to use or learn, your trip will be an action-packed and fun adventure.

About the Captain

USCG Captain and Licensed NYS Fishing Guide - I have been chasing around fish on Lake Ontario tributaries for over 10 years. Before I was in Oswego, I spent my youth fishing with my father in creeks and rivers throughout the Hudson Valley, in the Adirondaks and in Nova Scotia. While any day on the water is a good one in my book, my favorite way to spend my time is fishing for steelhead. The challenge that they present with and the spectrum of techniques that can be used to fish them still excites me and has taught me that there's always something new to learn. When I am able, I'm known to hike long distances to explore fishing spots and am not afraid of the snow that Lake Ontario brings along with the winter season. When I'm not on the water, I enjoy tying flies, hunting and camping. Oswego County is fortunate to have such an amazing fishery and I'm blessed to share the waters with those that enjoy the outdoors as much as I do.

Finally a bit of rain

October 09, 2017

The Oswego river finally got a shot of rain to bump up flows and the fishing has turned on the last few days. The kings are starting to snap much better and the trout are still trickling in. I… Read Full Report →
