Fish Hunter FNQ is all about fishing adventures on the inland waters of Cairns, Australia. The charter can accommodate a pair of river fishing enthusiasts who want to try and get the taste of the succulent Baramundi, but there are other species lurking nearby.
You’ll be joining Captain Will Pritchard aboard his 15’ custom-built flats boat. It is powered by a 40 HP Yamaha engine, with a maximum cruising speed of 25 knots – this should give you the right pace when fishing down Daintree River, Johnstone River, and Russell-Mulgrave estuary. The vessel also has top-notch electronics to help you navigate atop these waters.
If you’re feeling like spinning, popping or fly fishing, Fish Hunter FNQ is the charter for you. Captain Will provides fly fishing equipment as well as conventional tackle, specializing in targeting prized species like Queenfish, Mangrove Snapper, Trevally, and Tarpon. He is a skilled angler who has fished in Australia and abroad, and is ready to give you a trip to remember.
If you can’t make it to Cairns, Fish Hunter FNQ also fishes in Port Douglas! If you prefer casting your lure a bit further up north, check out Captain Will’s trips there - scroll down and click on the captain’s name in his profile section.
The trip rates include rods, reels, tackle, and lures. For full day trips, the captain will prepare lunch, while anglers going on half day trips will be served some fine tea. All trips also cover the costs of the necessary fishing licenses. And, if you wish, you can keep the catch. Before you set out, make sure to bring a hat, lightweight long sleeves, insect repellent, some water-friendly shoes, sunglasses and a camera to capture the excitement.
Barramundi here bite from February through October, while Giant Trevally stand in for them at the turn of the year - whichever you target, Fish Hunter FNQ will be with you every step of the road!
