His boat is a 24’ beautiful Carolina Skiff performance fishing boat originally built in 2017 with a capacity for up to 4 guests. Powered by a 115 HP Yamaha engine, with a maximum cruising speed of 35 knots, this skiff will transport you to the best spots very quickly. It has a tower for sighting, a jack plate for better fuel efficiency and moving across shallower waters, a wireless trolling motor for super quiet trolling, and a power pole to keep you in the productive spot.
Capt. Matt offers a variety of trips, and he is certain any trip you book will be so good you will remember it forever. And why is he so sure? Well, he learned all about fishing from his family who are well known in Homosassa, he is patient with first-timers and kids, and his boat was built for these waters.
Now, let’s talk fish. The geographic positioning of Homosassa on the Florida map means it gets plenty of warm currents caressing its shores, grass flats, and mangroves. It also means that a variety of fish species is available year-round. Some of them are Redfish, Spotted Seatrout, Snook, Grouper, and Cobia. Scalloping season is open from July 1 to late September and is a hugely popular family activity that gets booked up well in advance.
Capt. Matt will provide you will the necessary fishing gear including Redbone rods, Shimano reels, tackle, bait, ice, bottled water, and fishing license. Bring some food for the day, polarized sunglasses, sunscreen, and a small cooler to take your day’s catch home, fresh, cleaned, and ready to eat.
