Erie Gold Sport Fishing LLC is owned and operated by Captain Eric A. Hirzel and is fully insured. The home port is located on world famous Lake Erie in Port Clinton, Ohio and is widely known as the "Walleye Capital of the World". Unmatched in both numbers and quality of walleyes the western and central basins of Lake Erie continue to produce huge year classes of fish. Yellow perch are also abundant during certain times of the season in the west basin.

Captain Eric brings almost 50 years of fishing experience pleasure and tournament fishing. He has 35 years of experience as a guide on Lake Erie both open water and ice fishing. His skills put fish in the boat while providing an enjoyable learning and fun experience for his customers. Captain Eric also has a solid understanding of the biology of the lake and migration patterns of bait and walleye and uses that knowledge to put customers in the right place and time with the right techniques to deliver a great trip. Methods include trolling, casting, and jigging. As a member of the Great Lakes Fishery Commission advisory board as Lake Erie sport fishing representative, Captain Eric is also committed to helping manage and shape the future of this amazing lake.

Our boat "Erie Gold" is a 27’ Sea Hunt Gamefish center console with twin 200 hp Yamaha 4 stroke engines. It delivers a safe, dry, and comfortable ride and is equipped with Simrad GPS navigation and sonar, auto pilot, live well for the bait and fish. You will find all required safety equipment required by the U.S. Coast Guard on board. All tackle, baits, and ice are provided by Erie Gold so all you need to do is show up ready to catch fish!

Trips originate out of Anchors Away Marina in nearby Marblehead, Ohio but customer pick-ups from any of the Bass Islands or Kelleys Island can be arranged at no extra cost. Fish cleaning services are available dockside for additional fees.
