I recently had the pleasure of chartering a personal boat for a fishing trip with my 5-year-old son, and I couldn’t be more thrilled with the experience. From start to finish, it was a day we’ll cherish forever.

The boat itself was perfect for our needs. It was well-maintained, clean, and equipped with all the necessary fishing gear. The captain was friendly, knowledgeable, and made us feel at ease right away. He had a great rapport with my son, patiently explaining everything and making the experience engaging and fun for him.

We set out to catch spotted bass, and the captain knew just the right spots. His expertise was evident as we quickly found ourselves reeling in fish. My son was ecstatic with each catch, and the captain’s enthusiasm was infectious. He taught us both a lot about fishing techniques and the local ecosystem, making it an educational experience as well.

One of my biggest concerns was whether the trip would be suitable for a young child. I’m happy to report that it was an ideal adventure for my son. The captain made sure he was comfortable and safe at all times, providing life jackets and ensuring the boat ride was smooth and enjoyable. My son had a blast, and it was heartwarming to see his excitement.

Scenic and Relaxing: 5/5
The scenery was breathtaking. We were surrounded by serene waters and beautiful landscapes, making it a relaxing getaway from the hustle and bustle of daily life. The captain’s knowledge of the area added an extra layer of appreciation for the natural beauty around us.

This fishing trip exceeded all my expectations. It was a fantastic bonding experience with my son, and we created memories that will last a lifetime. Justin was a great captain and kept us on fish all day long.  He shared his knowledge of the lake, the various species of fish we were after (and caught), mixing it all with conversation of family, what else we could do around the lake, and where we might grab a beer and bite to eat.
Morning fish (8-10 boated; released) included youngest fisherman (12) reeling in a 13.5 lb blue catfish.  A 2.5 lb bass topped the various bass we caught.
Fish caught included blue cat, hybrid, spotted, smallmouth and largemouth bass. 
Strongly recommend a trip with Justin — a second generation Lake Norman guide.

Being on a boat in the middle of a lake with a complete stranger sounds a little intimidating, but Captain Justin was a different story! Super welcoming and friendly from the start to the finish. Even better, has excellent communication skills, which is hard to come by nowadays! Caught a bunch of fish, which he could guess before we even pulled them out of the water. Pretty impressive. Overall I give it an A+ and would highly recommend going. Totally worth it and would do it again in a heartbeat.

My grandfather and I went out in the late afternoon with Justin in hopes of landing a couple fish. I’m happy to report that we ended up catching a ton of spotted bass, largemouth, and two huge catfish. Justin is a super nice guy and it is clear he knows the ins and outs of fishing on the lake. 11/10 experience, will book again if we are in the area in the future!

Captain Justin does an outstanding job! My two boys and father had an unbelievable time catching fish and caught north of 35 fish on our four hour trip. Justin is extremely personable, knowledgeable, and takes care of everything! He moved us around and knows where the fish are! We had a great time and I would highly recommend him.
