Big Marlin Charters welcome you down to Punta Cana to spend the day fishing offshore for the biggest of big game pelagics. Target Blue and White Marlin, Mahi Mahi, Yellowfin Tuna, Wahoo, Sailfish, and more in the deep waters just a short boat ride away. This is blue water fishing just without the long travel times.

You will be fishing aboard the “Sherlock II”, a 39’ Mediterranean sportfisher powered by twin Cummins 450s up to a cruising speed of 23 knots - impressive considering her size. She can carry six guests with ease and is equipped with everything you will need for the perfect day on the water.

The boat features a large flybridge to take in the view on your way to the fishing ground and a spacious interior with a full bathroom, galley, salon, and stateroom, making it your home-from-home on the high seas.

The Sherlock II is more than just a pleasure cruiser, though. She is equipped with the latest electronics to get you locked on the fish, outriggers to best target them once you are there, and a fighting chair to make sure you bring in even the fiercest pelagic predators.

You won’t need three guesses to figure out what Big Marlin Charters specializes in. The crew are heavy tackle experts, who will get you trolling the deep and hooking fish you can only dream of. All trips come with pick up, drop off, and a selection of drinks to keep you cool and in high spirits on the high seas.

Don’t forget to bring a towel, sunscreen, seasick medication if needed, and beach shoes that you can easily take off.

So climb aboard and let the Big Marlin team show you how they earned their name.

Was a beautiful day on the water. First mate Andy/Andre was pretty awesome, my boys each caught a nice Barracuda. We started out about 20 min late, and did not make up the time. the last few hours were unsuccessful, but thats why we call it fishing and not catching. My only suggestion was maybe having the opportunity to maybe bottom fish on the way back so we'd have had an opportunity to catch something else when trolling went cold. Still a solid trip overall with my family 👍

3/4 Day Trip on January 13, 20264 adults
Our group fished for 2 days on the Sherlock II and the Dog Gone, mixing our 2 groups between both boats. The captains and mates were friendly and competent. We caught a few barracuda and 1 mahi between 8 guys on the 2 boats. we did take the Mahi home and grilled it for dinner and it was delocious. That's why they call it fishing and not catching 🤗. Overall, the day on the water was fun and we had a lot of good laughs, but it would have been more enjoyable if the fishing equipment was geared for smaller fish. we had a great time and would use them again in the future. Being an avid fisherman, I understand that catching fish is not guaranteed.🎣

Great trip with first mate Andy, Captain Yustas was cordial as well!
3/4 Day Trip on January 28, 20253 adults1 child
I've been on a few charters, never in search of marlin though. Andy worked his butt off and the captain did his job from the helm. We hooked into a blue marlin double, landing one and the other popping the swivel. It was a great experience all around. Andy (first mate) kept us entertained with conversation of his world travels and history of the Dominican Republic, all while working his butt off to keep the baits fresh and gear tangle free. When we hooked up, the captain was right on top of it, helping to direct everyone on board of what to do. They recognized my level of skill and let me do all that I wanted. When fighting the fish they allowed me the level of respect I hoped for, understanding that I knew the drag and slack, along with reeling down. It was our first trip to the Dominican, usually we go to Mexico. If we get back in the next couple of years I will definitely book with them again!

An amazing trip!
Full Day Trip on January 25, 20252 adults
What an amazing day we had! Everything with this company was smooth and easy. Payment, communication, pick up and drop off at hotel was smooth and easy. The boat was in immaculate condition. The first mate, Andy was so friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. Andy made sure to help when needed but would also allow you to do things on your own when you wanted to. We didn't catch any big fish but had a great time and caught 7 medium sized fish (3 different species). Thank you Andy for making our day so enjoyable!!
