Pelican Charters Ltd.
Pelican Charters offers a range of trips out of Port Alberni, BC, targeting the many tasty gamefish found around Vancouver Island. From the calm, narrow waters of Alberni Inlet, to the open seas of the North Pacific, huge fish put anglers to the test throughout the summer and fall.
Fancy numbering yourself among them? You couldn’t find a better place to start than the “Rusty Pelican”, a 34’ Hatteras Sportfisher powered by twin Iveco engines up to a steady 30 knots. The boat is loaded with enough tech and equipment to bring in whatever the ocean throws at you, with plenty of comforts to keep you happy on your trip.
A range of marine electronics sweep the water and guide you towards the best fishing spots while you take in the view from her spacious flybridge. Once you’re in place, you can drop your lines for huge Halibut and Lingcod, or troll for trophy Salmon. On offshore trips, you will blow straight past these species and head up to 25 miles out for delicious Albacore Tuna.
And that’s just the day trips! Multi-day charters will see you fishing for all the area’s top species, fighting fish throughout the day then relaxing aboard as the sun goes down. You can also visit Tofino’s famous hot springs and wander the temperate rainforest which covers the island.
The “Rusty Pelican” will be your perfect home-from-home through all of this. She has two double and single beds, a full bathroom complete with a shower, and plenty of space to sit and discuss the day’s catches. There’s a complete kitchen with plenty of food for your trip, but Capt. Cory will need some help cooking it up each night.
All trips come with tackle, lures, drinks, and a first mate who will work himself to the bone to keep you hooked up all day long. At the end of your trip, Capt. Cory will even arrange for your catch to be vacuum packed for legal export. So grab your fishing license, your camera, and your lucky hat, and jump aboard to start catching fish!
