Inshore Excursions invite you for a fishing trip to explore the inshore waters of Southwest Florida. The invitation is on year round! Mangrove shorelines, flats, and backcountry waters have a lot in store, with the promise of reeling in Redfish, Snook, Trout, or Tarpon to take a photo with it.
Departing from Cape Coral, you will be heading around rich waters. Tucked in between Pine Island and the Florida’s mainland, the shallow Matlacha Pass has a number of little islands and shorelines where your catch might be hiding. To make the most out of it, you will need a local angler who knows these waters like the back of his hand and can get you to lucrative fisheries in no time. Luckily for you, Capt. Mike is a local. He’s been fishing these waters his whole life and knows how to approach the fishing game.
Capt. Mike will accommodate you on his 19’ Mako flats boat. The boat is powered by a 90 HP Mercury engine. She is equipped with a fishfinder and GPS, has a wireless trolling motor, stores life jackets, and features a live bait well. The boat’s V-hull ensures a stable ride. Up to two anglers can come along and have enough room for proper fishing. Have a look at the gallery to see how it looks.
As for the techniques, Capt. Mike usually opts for live bait, but if you’d like it, he can also provide for artificial lures. Fly anglers are more than welcome to come along and challenge the fish that swim nearby. Whether it’s Snook, Redfish, or Tarpon, fishing on fly for them is niche and exciting.
So, what do you need for your trip? It would be good to have sunglass, a cap, and sunblock on. Depending on the weather, you will want to have suitable clothes and footwear on. Make some food and sandwiches, grab refreshments — though there will be some onboard — and pack your camera.
There are several departure points around the area, so you can find Capt. Mike elsewhere. Just scroll down, and click on his name.
