Snook On A Hook takes you fishing around the inshore waterways of Texas in search for Snook, Redfish, Jack Crevalle, and Flounder. These trips are year-round treats as the fish are both strong and tasty. Both serious anglers and less experienced fishermen will have fun time trying to get the fish in.
To make the most out of your day, you will want to be fishing with a local guide, and who better than the president of the Laguna Madre Fly Fishing Association himself - Mark Machado. Captain Mark knows the area intimately and will be able to help you reach the productive spots. Captain Mark has been featured in several fishing magazine articles and has been part of a TV show on trout fly fishing.
As for the vessel, you will be fishing from a 19’ Mako bay boat. She can take up to four anglers and is well equipped to go around the estuaries and the bay system. The boat is powered by a 115 HP Mercury engine and can reach the speeds of up to 35 knots. The GPS system will help you navigate around the maze waterways, and there is the safety gear onboard, as well as the fly fishing equipment and a lie bait well.
You should bring a valid Texas saltwater fishing license, your own food and drinks, as well as a cap, sunblock, sunglasses, and comfortable footwear, preferably without black soles. Having in mind how numerous these schools can get, you’ll definitely want to bring a camera along. Please note that smoking is not allowed. As for the fish, you can either release it or have a nice meal in one of the nearby restaurants after the trip.
These trips are a great way to learn the craft of fly fishing. It requires patience, and Capt. Mark will help out with the basics. Find a spot and go get your Snook!
