Sailing out of Port Everglades In Fort Lauderdale for over a decade YB Normal is ready to take clients out for a great day of fishing. Captain Vinnie offers a range of trips, with four to 8-hour packages and the choice of coming as a group or jumping aboard a shared charter. With this many options, there is no excuse not to go fishing!

The YB Normal is a 43’ Torres sportfishing boat which has seen regular maintenance since the day she was built and makes for the perfect place for groups of 6 anglers to enjoy a great day’s fishing. She has a comfortable, air-conditioned interior with a bathroom, galley, and plenty of space to relax in between bites.

She is also loaded with a literal boatload of equipment and tech to make sure you get some great catches. The latest electronics from Garmin and Furuno will sound out the deep and have you always fishing in the right spot. Outriggers and downriggers will maximize your spread and target species, and a fighting chair will let you hold your own against whatever you hook.

What you target will depend on the trip you choose. Half day charters will mainly drift and bottom fish around local reefs, targeting bottom species as well as a few fast-moving fish like King Mackerel and Bonito. Full and ¾ days can have you targeting anything from Tilefish to Sailfish, depending on what you want to get out of your trip.

Want to beat the heat and get some awesome catches while you do so? Book in for a nighttime Snapper charter, anchoring over local reefs as the sun goes down to target big Yellowtail, Mangrove, and Mutton Snapper which come out after dark.

Hello everyone Capt. Vinnie here, what a great week of deep sea fishing right in Fort Lauderdale that we have had, some of the best weather we have seen in a long time and not to mention the fish are biting! To start the report off we will stay on the inshore because thats where most of the action has been, right on the reef there has been solid kingfish action with some bonitos mixed in just about daily, the only thing that has been a pain as of late is the seaweed, some days the seaweed is so bad its been very difficult to fish and other days there has been none. Trolling has been a great way to target the kingfish as well as the bonitos but live bait has been working very well right now in order to get some of the larger kings. There has also been some very very large blackfin tuna on the edge of the reef that we have been catching while slow trolling live baits, some of the tunas have been as big as 30lbs. This week we had some great weather and favorable conditions for bottom fishing we have been anchoring up on the deeper side of the reef catching some quality yellowtail snappers. Light tackle and small baits has been the best combo, while on the anchor we also have been putting out some live baits on the surface and there has been quite a bit of sailfish around right now as well, and the occasional mahi mahi in on the reefs chasing live baits. Moving a little off the reef to the deeper water there has been quite a bit of shark activity. Big game sharks are still around and plentiful right now, hammerhead, sandbar, bull sharks, and tiger sharks just to name a few. All sharks are catch and release only but if your looking for a fight they will give it to you. On the offshore side of things mahi is the hot topic that seems to always be coming up but unfortunately it is to early to go out there and search for the fish so nice they named it twice I would imagine that they will start to pick up as we reach the summer months like June and July so that is something to look forward to in future reports. All in all the fishing as of late has been great right here in Fort Lauderdale, so many options of different things to fish for. Hello everyone, Capt. Vinnie here. This weeks report is just like the title says SOLID. The warm weather has already arrived, feels like summer time, hot temps some days windy other days not even a breeze but good fishing right now off the coast of Fort Lauderdale. Just on the edge of the reef is where most action has been best, for the most part the most consistent bite has been kingfish and bonito, they have been biting anywhere from 100 feet of water on out to 150 feet, trolling has been the best choice right now, live bait has been hard to get and there has been alot of seaweed certain days. Trolling with fresh bonito strips in my opinion is always a fantastic choice to entice finicky fish to strike, fishing with a planer to take the bait under the surface right into the strike zone has been the most productive. Moving a little deeper the afternoons have been fantastic for larger tuna, blackfin tuna up to 25lbs have not been uncommon, the depths from 200 on out to 350 feet is where you want to be for those guys, same theme as inshore with the trolling for the tuna, but increasing our trolling speed and using lighter leader has been a great way to dial the tuna in perfectly, while tuna fishing there has been a select amount of wahoo available as well, one of my favorite fish to eat, one more fish that has been prevalent, is a few and I mean a few mahi mahi, on days when the wind has been blowing out of the east and the seas are churned up, we have been catching a few mahi n birds, although it is a little early in the season for them it is a good sign that the fish are starting to move our way. Last but not least, we did a little bit of bottom fishing this week and had some success with some large vermillion snappers and a few lane snappers, on the days that the current is light we have been doing some snapper fishing in depths up to 300 feet, small pieces of cut bait like fresh bonito and or squid has been a good choice for these tasty snappers right now, nothing huge but all very good sized anywhere from 1-3lb fish perfect for a nice fresh fish dinner. This week be sure to check out some of the great photos of some recent catches we have been having while out on our deep sea fishing charters and remember to follow us on social media platforms like Facebook and instagram @Ybnormalsportfishing for daily fishing content. Summer is right around the corner and so is the fishing and the summer heat, something to look forward to would be mahi season which should start to pick up towards mid June.
