Sailing out of Port Everglades In Fort Lauderdale for over a decade YB Normal is ready to take clients out for a great day of fishing. Captain Vinnie offers a range of trips, with four to 8-hour packages and the choice of coming as a group or jumping aboard a shared charter. With this many options, there is no excuse not to go fishing!

The YB Normal is a 43’ Torres sportfishing boat which has seen regular maintenance since the day she was built and makes for the perfect place for groups of 6 anglers to enjoy a great day’s fishing. She has a comfortable, air-conditioned interior with a bathroom, galley, and plenty of space to relax in between bites.

She is also loaded with a literal boatload of equipment and tech to make sure you get some great catches. The latest electronics from Garmin and Furuno will sound out the deep and have you always fishing in the right spot. Outriggers and downriggers will maximize your spread and target species, and a fighting chair will let you hold your own against whatever you hook.

What you target will depend on the trip you choose. Half day charters will mainly drift and bottom fish around local reefs, targeting bottom species as well as a few fast-moving fish like King Mackerel and Bonito. Full and ¾ days can have you targeting anything from Tilefish to Sailfish, depending on what you want to get out of your trip.

Want to beat the heat and get some awesome catches while you do so? Book in for a nighttime Snapper charter, anchoring over local reefs as the sun goes down to target big Yellowtail, Mangrove, and Mutton Snapper which come out after dark.

Whatever you do, you are in for a great time, with an experienced captain, quality equipment, and a whole ocean of awesome fish just waiting for someone to drop a hook in front of them. It might as well be you, right?

Captain Vinnie operates the YB Normal out of Fort Lauderdale, FL, and has worked aboard other boats in the area all his life. He loves being out on the water and getting groups on awesome fish. His favorite fish to catch is Black Grouper, but a huge part of what makes fishing so fun for him is never knowing what is going to bite next. This is what makes bottom fishing so fun for him - you can never tell what will take your bait!

Hello everyone, Capt. Vinnie here, this weeks fishing report off of Fort Lauderdale we are going to start offshore, as for right now it seems that the mahi have taken a break for a few weeks and have been M.I.A right now but that doesn't mean that you couldnt get lucky if you ventured offshore looking for them. In previous years we always tend to have a good run of mahi in the middle of August and then we have a better run towards September, so technically based on previous years we should start to see a few mahi showing up in the next few weeks as we approach the month of September. Inshore is where the action has been, early mornings trolling the reef has been exceptional with a wide variety of species. Kingfish, bonitos, barracudas, and yes sailfish have all been prevalent on our morning deep sea fishing charters. Trolling the reef from depths as shallow as 100 feet on our to as deep as 180 is where most of the action has been. Surface baits fished with fresh bonito strips have been getting a fair amount of action on the sailfish as well as bonitos and a few barracudas. While our other baits fished under the surface using planers have been seeing mostly kingfish and barracudas lately. Mornings have been better then afternoons right now but in the afternoons we have been seeing some quality blackfin tunas ranging anywhere from 5-15lbs. The blackfin tuna have been in depths from 180 feet to 250 feet and eating smaller baits like mylar skirts and squid imitation lures. This week for a bottom fishing report I can say it has been good as well, on our longer trips that we normally would go offshore looking for mahi we have been anchor fishing for yellow tail snapper and doing well at that. The yellowtail snapper have been biting fairly well in depths around 80 feet, anchoring up and chumming is going to help you build the spot. It does take time for the snappers to get comfortable before they get into a frenzy to eat. While fishing for yellowtail there are certainly other species of fish that you are going to bring into your chumslick like mackeral and possibly kingfish so its always nice to have a rod rigged with a wire leader just incase. Last but not least there has been some solid vermillion snapper action in depths around 200 foot, when the conditions are right and the current and wind are cooperating we have been doing well on the deep water snappers. Fresh bonito is going to be the bait of choice and you want to use the lightest lead possible to get to the bottom. Average size on the vermillion snappers has been 2 to 4lbs. This week please be sure to check out some of the recent photos we have of some recent catches that were caught while out on our deep sea fishing charters in Fort Lauderdale and remember to give us a like and follow on social media platforms like facebook and instagram @Ybnormalsportfishing for daily fishing content. As for the next few weeks we have availability for anyone that is looking to come down to fort Lauderdale and do some deep sea fishing we would love to show you a great time on the water. Fishing should continue to stay pretty consistent over the next few weeks, hopefully the weather will hold as well, should start to see some more mahi action soon so be on the lookout in future repots...more later Capt. Vinnie

August Deep Sea Fishing In Fort Lauderda
August Deep Sea Fishing In Fort Lauderda
August 19, 2024
Hello everyone Capt. Vinnie here, this week in Fort Lauderdale the fishing remains excellent just like last weeks report. This week we will start on the inshore side of things, the trolling on the reef in the mornings has been exceptional for species like king mackeral, bonito and believe it or not some summer time sailfish. Depths from around 100 to 140 foot is where we have been seeing the most action on these species. Trolling a 5 rod spread with 2 planers down below the surface is going to get the bites on the kingfish, and then 3 rods fished on the surface with a variety of some just lures and others with strip baits. A spread like this will have you covered for pretty much anything you will encounter on the reef. The kingfish have been biting best in the early mornings and fresh bonito strips are going to be key to get those bites, the kingfish have been averaging around 10lbs but it is not uncommon to catch one as big as 25lbs right now. While trolling up and down the reef we have been getting a few sailfish shots this week on our surface baits. Strip baits fished with a sea witch is going to be the best combination for sailfish because the strip can take a few whacks from the billfish and still be intact unlike a ballyhoo. We have been seeing sailfish of all sizes which is a great sign that winter time sailfish action could be great this year. Moving just off the reef there has been a very solid blackfin tuna bite right now morning and afternoons, the tunas have been biting the baits fished under the surface of the water best but we have been getting a few on the surface, tuna have large eyes and tend to feed best in low light conditions so early mornings and late afternoons are always going to be the best windows if your looking for tuna. When trolling for the tunas it is important to increase your trolling speed, tunas are always on the move and when your trolling quicker you can cover more area thus giving you a better chance for a bite. As far as offshore for mahi seems the bite has slowed down a bit the fish that where here have already passed through, but that being said if you did venture offshore looking for mahi right now best bet would be to look for birds and floating debris, birds right now may not have mahi on it but there will be fish there most likely skipjack tunas, any sort of floating debris is always going to be money in the bank, I still would recommend if going offshore to look for mahi to bring some live bait like pilchards just incase you happen to come across a floater, it will be very hard for hungry mahi to say no to live bait. We should have another run of mahi here in the next week or so, be on the lookout in upcoming reports for some mahi action. This week please be sure to check out some of the great photos of some recent catches we had while out on our deep sea fishing charters and remember to give us a like and follow on social media platforms like facebook and instagram @Ybnormalsportfishing for daily fishing content. The fishing reminds great right now and should stay great for sometime hopefully the mahi make another appearance here in the next week or so, bottom fishing should begin to pick up as well, if your thinking about coming down to Fort Lauderdale and wanting to get out to do some deep sea fishing we have availability for the month of august and would love to show you a great time on the water. The Mahi Are Biting In Fort Lauderdale
The Mahi Are Biting In Fort Lauderdale
August 14, 2024
Hello everyone Capt. Vinnie here, this week I would say I have the report that everyone has been waiting for so lets get right to it. We will start right off with the topic of mahi mahi. The mahi have been showing up in some impressive numbers right off the coast of Fort Lauderdale, right now if your heading offshore the key to success with the mahi is going to be to look for signs of life, it is such large ocean and you can only cover so much ground in a full day trip so if you can find birds your going to narrow down exactly where you need to be. Also any type of floating debris is going to be like finding the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. If you happen to get into a school of mahi it is absolutely critical to make sure you have spinning rods rigged up and plenty of cut bait to throw to the hungry mahi, live bait is always going to be the best choice, but if no live bait is available small ballyhoo as well as squid works well too. One other thing id like to point out with the mahi is when your in a school its so important to keep some fish in the water because if you dont the other mahi around the boat will leave. I would say a good place to start looking for the mahi is around 7 miles offshore but they have been as far as 20 miles but it is safe to say they are HERE! Other then mahi on the inshore side the trolling bite has been just epic. Plenty of nice sized kingfish on the edge of the reef right now and some bonitos mixed in, the kingfish have been biting best early in the mornings before the sun gets high and the temperatures heat up, also seems right now that the deeper the bites the bigger the kingfish for example 100 feet of water the fish have been smaller then if you happen to get a bite out in 200 feet. We have a nice picture of a kingfish we caught this week that was close to 40lbs (pictured). In the later afternoons on the deeper side of the reef there has been some blackfin tunasl, our lines fished under the surface using planners have been seeing the best action some of the tunas have been as big as 15lbs. Last but not least I would like to point out that we have been seeing a nice little flurry of some summer time sailfish which is always welcomed. Most of the sailfish bites have been coming on the surface with mylar skirts and fresh bonito strips in depths inside of 200 feet. This week please make sure to check out some of the great pictures of some recent catches we had while out on our deep sea fishing charters out of Fort Lauderdale and remember to give us a like and follow on social media platforms like facebook and instagram @Ybnormalsportfishing for daily fishing content. As we get deeper and deeper into the month of August the fishing will continue to stay very good plenty of fish on the reef and plenty of mahii offshore which gives options for everyone. For the rest of the month we have some availability so if your coming down to Fort Lauderdale and looking to do some deep sea fishing or if your a loyal follower thats been waiting for the mahi bite to turn on I would say now is the time, we would love to have you out fishing with us and show you a great time on the water.
