Mistress is a 50ft. high-performance sportfisher, personally designed and constructed by Alan Tongs, one of New Zealand’s most eminent boat builders, and launched back in January of 2001. The vessel is powered by twin Volvo 122P EDC engines, (610 horsepower each) with average cruising speeds of 20 to 25 knots, and carries a 3500-liter fuel tank. Featuring two toilets and showers, two ACs, two double beds with ensuite, two single bunks as well as two settee berths, Mistress was clearly built with comfort, relaxation and luxury in mind. The boat also accommodates a minimum of 7 passengers on an overnight journey.
When it comes to navigational and fish finding utilities, the boat is loaded with an assortment of quality marine technology, including two Furuno depth sounders, Furuno Ch450 search light sonar as well as two Furuno GPS chart plotter/sounder combos. All of this and more allowed Mistress to grow into a tried-and-tested tournament winner, having participated in and claiming several renowned tournaments and recognitions, not the least of which being the Billfish Foundation’s ‘Top Release Boat Black Marlin Pacific Ocean’ several years in a row.
The Mistress crew specializes in fishing the Black Marlin season on the Cairns’ productive offshore waterways, but also offers a variety of highly customizable packages, including live-aboard excursions to the Great Barrier Reef, as well as day trips to the Goldcoast for feisty Blue and juvenile Black Marlin. Captain Brett Alty and his trusted deckhand Jonathon Lawrence both have years of international fishing experience, having personally fished a variety of renowned big game hotspots between the two, including the Maldives, Bahamas, Bermudas, New Zealand and more.
All the proper fishing gear for your group is included in the price: among others, the boat utilizes Schaeffer Tournament 37ft 3-spreader game poles, and features a black marlin alloy tuna tower as well as a Murray Brothers fishing chair.
