Agua Bendita

Cap Cana Marina
Punta Cana, Dominican Republic

Agua Bendita is a 38 foot long custom sportfishing boat, powered by twin Cummins 465HP diesel engines. The vessel is fully air-conditioned, and features a full kitchen and bathroom on board. The boat is also rigged with well-maintained fishing equipment, and a standard assortment of marine electronics including GPS, fish finder and radio. Agua Bendita can accommodate up to 6 passengers per trip.

Agua’s Captain and crew have a combined experience of over 17 years, and are very much familiar with the local fishing grounds. The crew also offers customizable fishing and beaching packages, where you can fish the productive waters of Punta Cana for a few hours and anchor at the beach afterwards, taking a dip or just sunbathing and relaxing.

For seasoned, hardcore fisherman, Agua Bendita team has prepared special deep drop fishing trips, at depths of between 200 and 1100 feet, fishing for Queen Red Snapper, Yellow Eye Snapper, Amberjacks, Grouper, Giant Triggerfish and more. The boat comes fully decked with deep drop electric rods and reels, apt to fish these depths.

The transparent waters of Punta Cana are frequented by a variety of migratory game fish such as Blue and White Marlin, Mahi Mahi, Wahoo and many others. For those that enjoy the thrill of hooking to a shark, the bite is productive virtually all year round. Do note, however, that although clients are free to keep most of the fish they catch, a strict catch and release policy is implemented for all Marlins/Billfish.

A luxury, 2-bedroom condo is available as an optional lodging package for those that wish to extend their stay in Punta Cana or make it into a vacation. For more information and detailed lodge rates, please feel free to inquire.

The day was a great day with the family.  We were novice fishermen and the captain and first mate did wonders to help us fish.  We got a white marlin to the boat, but he swam under the boat and snapped the line.  We pulled in a barracuda and yellow fin tuna, while none of the other boats on the water were catching anything.  The swells were rough in the morning around 5 feet, but we enjoyed the trip none the less.  We finished the day with snorkeling.  My family is already asking to do this again.  I can’t thank everyone enough.  Highly recommend.

The most important goal for this trip was to catch fish. While every trip has the potential to go without fish, (we caught zero), I think tactics could have been modified to improve our chances. It was windy, and the seas were large. Three baits were hit while were out, and all three baits were hit short, missing the single forward hook. If I back home, I’d have added a trailer hook to improve our odds. No efforts were made like this.
I will never book another charter that does not arrange transportation from the motel to the boat. Our driver spoke no english, and if not for a map I printed off the computer, we would not have found the Marina. When arriving at the guarded entrance to the marina, the guard had no record of us coming, and would not let us enter. After leaving, I received a text with the captain’s phone number. Only then were the driver and captain able to convince the guard to let us in.
The boat captain had his giflfriend with on the boat. He, she, and another of the crew spent most of the time on the flying bridge.
This felt like a boat ride to collect money.
I would not reccomend this boat.
