Kingpin Sportfishing - Kingpin II

Playa Tamarindo
Tamarindo GU, Costa Rica

Kingpin Sportfishing specialize in big game fishing for giant pelagics. What they catch the most are Sailfish and Blue Marlin, although they also catch lots of Mahi Mahi, Yellowfin Tuna, Wahoo, and Black and Striped Marlin.
They also do bottom fishing and go for Grouper and Roosterfish. They also like to point out all the beautiful things found in the pristine Pacific waters they fish in, like sea turtles, whales dolphins and whatever the day sends their way

Kingpin Sportfishing believes strongly in respect for the ocean, and operates a catch and release policy on all Billfish.

Pit, the capital is friendly and knowledgeable, but the overall experience was disappointing.  We were able to land a nice sailfish within the first hour (85-90lbs). After that there was some action, another smaller sailfish was hooked, but after several jumps threw the hook.  We had a few more hits, but were not able to land any other fish.  The experience at the end of the day is about what you catch.  We were not shutout, but after the early catch it turned into a 5 hour boat ride: not very exciting unfortunately.  Most charters have a “go to” place where you can catch something, this was not the case.  To hear the captain talk of his previous “conquests” is nice, but my family and I did not get that experience. I cannot in good faith recommend you book with Kingpin II.
