This was our 2nd time out with Capt Vinnie and his mate, Roger. The first time was out of Sheepshead Bay in late August and we anchored off the north side of Staten Island, casting cut bunker for stripers. I took my 9-yr old son and a couple of friends. It was a wonderful morning and we came home with a couple meals worth of fish each, plus had fun pulling in a dogfish and a couple toadfish. The second time was out of Howard Beach and Broad Channel, jigging and topfishing for stripers and blues on a late September afternoon. Again, amazing time. my son brought along a friend and his mom and we all had a great time. The wind was a hassle but Vinnie must have gone all over Jamaica Bay with us in pursuit of the fish. We pulled in a gorgeous sea trout, porgy, a couple stripers and over a dozen fat bluefish. It was so much fun and as relatively novice fishermen who have caught the fishing bug, we learned so much. Fishing with Vinnie is great, great, great. Roger is a whiz with the filet knife and both of these seasoned gentlemen are firm but patient as heck with the kids and the wealth of knowledge they have to share alone is worth the price. Great value. Great experience. I can’t wait to go back out again.

I went to a fishing trip with captain Vinnie on June 2th 2020. This was my first time I used the fishingbooker.com for booking a fishing charter. Initially the charter was scheduled for Friday, May 29th 2020 but shortly before the captain has decided to cancel it due to bad weather. Despite the fact that I was upset with a short notice I followed the advice of the captain and re-scheduled the trip for the following Tuesday. Fishingbooker offered an excellent service and all the transaction (scheduling and re-scheduling, confirmation) went smoothly. The customer service member even gave a me a phone call in order to make sure that none of my wishes remain open.
The captain Vinnie is a nice guy with lots of experience. His boat is clean and well equipped. Captain belongs to the group of people that talks less but acts instead. If you want to get any information you should be pro-active in contacting him in order to get answers.
Captain knows his job perfectly, he brought me to very different spots in the Jamaica Bay where we could try our luck by catching bluefish and striped bass. Finally after couple of hours I was lucky to catch the big fish that you can see in the attached photo.
I could witness the professionalism of the captain Vinnie by the end of my fishing trip one more time. When we were about to return back suddenly the engine of the boat broke down. The captain remained calm and did not loose control. He quickly evaluated situation and organized a fast rescue by another boat.
I would definitely recommend fishingbooker.com and captain Vinnie to passionate anglers that will enjoy this experience as I did.

Had an excellent trip with Captain Vinnie and first mate Roger aboard Karen Ann Charters. He’s been fishing these waters since he was 8yo and his experience shows. Throughout the 4 hr trip there was barely any downtime as we were just going from spot to spot finding action. Me and my kids learned so much that day and we can’t wait to do it again, only next time will be a full day.

Expect to be fishing for the majority of this trip and pickup some new skills that you never had.

We went out yesterday (Monday, September 30, 2019) with Captain Vinnie Calabro in a small boat - just my son and me (note here - skip the morning coffee as there are no bathrooms on board). Vinnie is a “salt of the earth” kind of guy - his onboard food was a package of oatmeal cookies from the grocery store that he shared with us. It was more than enough.

He is very knowledgeable of the area and took us around Jamaica Bay to ten or fifteen spots (maybe more) where we caught 14 bluefish (I’m cooking some for dinner tonight) and a few stripers that were too small to keep. He was very helpful with landing and getting the fish off the line. My son was getting lots of fish and I was not getting many, so he took the time to teach me how to go after these fish in the bay. Then I did fine. We had a great time.

He also knows when and where the fish are running so we’ll keep an eye on the schedule before we book next time. We will definitely stay in touch with Vinnie and book again in the future. Maybe next time we’ll get some stripers we can keep.

This trip exceeded the expectations my two friends and I have had of a best case scenario. We caught about 200+ (impossible to keep count) with nonstop fishing action for about 6 hours. Captain Vinnie and Roger were extremely knowledgeable on the water and had us hooked on fish all day. There were several instances all of us had our rods bent at the same time. All of us got along well with Captain Vinnie and Roger, both great people with a good sense humor and easy to get along with. I am excited to arrange more trips with these guys in the near future to catch some monster stripers and blues!
