Sunrise Charters Panama 

Communication, by Captain Andres, leading up to the fishing day was excellent. He keeps you informed on what’s biting, what to expect for the day, and what you’ll need to make the experience stress-free. Thank you, Captain Andres! The commute to the port was simple and only took about 15 minutes from the city center of Panama City. Don’t be confused by the meet location at the boat ramp, you will be at the right spot. There was even a local gentleman there who was selling Tropical Fruit Popsicles to keep us cool and refreshed before heading out. We knew this was going to be a memorable day on the water as soon as we met our captain, Bernardo, and his mate, Sobri (aka: The Real Captain Jack Sparrow). These guys were all about making the total experience comfortable, fun, and full of action. They did not disappoint, right down to the music they played for us. Our day on the water was absolutely gorgeous and calm. The humid Panama air was quickly forgotten as we made our way out of the port onto the Gulf of Panama. About 20-30 minutes into the trip, Captain Jack Sparrow showed off his navigational skills and intuition to guide Captain Bernardo right into the sweet spot where lines were cast. It didn’t take very long for the reels to start screaming as the Mahi-Mahi started running with our bait. In total we put 4 Mahi-Mahi in the box, as well as a Bonito. As far as a half-day fishing trip, my fishing partner and I were extremely satisfied with the amount of fishing action and time we got with Bernardo and Sobri. The cost was appropriate for the fantastic experience and service received. We felt the half-day experience met our schedule best, but if you have more time to work with, the full-day trip would not disappoint. I know that Bernardo and Sobri would have gotten us on a lot more species of fish with some extra time. Overall, we would give these guys, and Sunrise Charters Panama, 10 stars rather than 5. We gathered that it was their goal to give us what we paid for and more. No corners were cut by these guys. An extra shout out to Maa Goo Fish Tacos for helping turn our catch into a delicious post-fishing meal. We will without a doubt book our next fishing trip with Sunrise Charters Panama when we return. friendly and accommodating tour without the typical rush to move based on a schedule. Water, juice, sodas, beers and fruits included with plenty to spare. Fishing we caught in total 11 specimens with 7 Mahi Mahi and 4 Tunas. at the aaarival back, all fish was filleted and place in bags for us to take. The Captain even drove us to our AirBnBbin Marbella. An excellent day out with good music, food and plenty of fishing during my birthday. we’ll do it again in a heart beat, highly reccomended.

La experiencia fue increíble. Pásanos súper bien. Tuvimos una muy buena pesca de Jureles en modalidad de trolling y también lo intentamos con Popper ya que veíamos los cardúmenes. Aparte de la pesca fue sorprendente ver especies como delfines, ballenas, tortugas, manta rayas y gran variedad de aves. Gracias Bernardo y Sobri por el gran servicio. Volveremos!

Fantastic trip with difficult weather, the crew made it great.

We picked sunshine charters in Panama to take us fishing Feb 11, 2025. Captain Lazaro and his mate Mike were extremely efficient and knowledgeable fisherman. As soon as we dropped lines, we started to catch fish. We were 6 anglers and everyone caught plenty of fish (Spanish Mackerel, rock fish, snappers, and even a large jack). They are pleasant and patient and they even stayed out a bit longer for us to keep catching more fish. Mike fileted the fish for us and we go a taste of fresh fish right on the boat. We brought back about 10-15lbs of fish. What an amazing day :)

I chartered El Mae w/ Captn Mae and first mate Lazaro for my husbands 40th bday trip to Panama! We go out on boats OFTEN but had no idea what to expect on a smaller fishing charter and I have to tell you it was incredible! finding the public dock was easy and the boat is in great condition and well equipped. We stopped for live shrimp bait (highly recommend you add this small fee) and were off deep into the canal to hunt for fish. Within literal seconds of anchoring we started reeling them in, seriously we caught 10 fish within mins! Including a large snapper we then ate after Captn Mae cooked it for us while we sunbathed and explored Taboga island. If you want to catch TONS of fish, learn about the history of panama and have a curated experience on the water i highly recommend booking the El Mae! Truly the highlight of our trip!

When I initially booked my charter with Sunrise we were extremely excited until I realized we booked a boat over 2 hours away... Captain Andres immediately addressed the concerns and had a set up with a sister charter boat just five minutes aways from our resort... It saved us a lot of money and time! We hit the wat at 10:30 am. The dolphin swan next to the boat t, the captain found the dirds and we found some fish!!! What a great experience. Thanks for everyone in Panama that made this work for us!!!

They totally took care of us and made it a great trip out on the ocean. They did all the setup for the fishing rods and made sure we all set. They took us through some beautiful areas in Panama Bay and finally to Taboga Island for a swim to cool down before we returned. All and all it was a very enjoyable day. Would definitely recommend to others.

The crew is timely and prepared for our trip. We took the boat out towards the petroleum storage facility and Fish along the Rocky Banks. We caught quite a few needle fish as well as a Jack, but we threw all back into the ocean as they were either not edible or a bit too fishy apparently. Crew was very accommodating in terms of providing snacks and beverages as well as asking us what type of music we wanted to listen to. I would highly recommend them again.

This was the crown jewel of our trip to Panama so far. I grew up in Florida fishing but these guys and Panama can show you an entirely different level of fishing. We probably caught 12-15 mahi and losta few good ones. Then, on the way back were trolling and they hooked us up on a 5-6 foot 100+ pound sailfish. Incredible. The crew, captain Melvin and first mate Manuel were fantastic, friendly and extremely knowledgeable. We thank them for getting us on the fish. A trip we won't forget! ¡Viva Panama!
