High Tides Fishing 

Epic views around Punta Minta and excellent day of fishing. Crew was on top of every detail. Would go again.

Capt. Jamy and his two deck hands were great to fish with! They worked hard to put us on multiple fish and tried several techniques to target different species. They had a keen eye for spotting the key signals that paid off with multiple fish landed. Both my girlfriend and myself barley had a chance to let our arms rest before we had another double hook-up and even a triple! Capt. Jamy was straightforward regarding what fish to realistically target given that circumstances (i.e. time, weather, bite, conditions, etc.). I've ocean fished many times out of central and southern California, Channel Islands and Corndos Islands and this was one of my best days of fishing ever. Fishing again with Jamy and crew could not come soon enough!

I've been fishing with guides many times who are always very professional for the most part. This experience was par none the best experience I've ever had! From the very freshest ceviche prepared right on the boat, to the crew on the boat and the equipment. What separates this trip from all the others I have been on was the Captains energy and knowledge. They fish like I fish at home, with passion and flexibility to change gears and be open to the chase! I asked for variety in the blue water and variety we got 7 species! Amazing multiples of each species! The knowledge and efficiency was remarkable. They were not just putting in a day of trolling around like many guides do, they were hunting fish. If the main day of fishing was not amazing enough, on the run back in to the harbor, they saw a bait ball and asked "do you mind if we stop"? Well we did and caught fish! Then they saw floating structure and asked again and of course, YES!! And, we caught fish again. Finally, they spotted a pod of spinner dolphins and the crew went crazy and jumped into action! We got into very big Yellow Eye and hooked up casting stickbaits. A fisherman's day of work! We loved the whole day, don't get me wrong it was a lot of work to keep up and keep fishing, but this is the way I fish at home with my buddies. Work hard, be flexible and earn those shots at amazing fish. We can't wait to go again Spring Break 2021!!!

I have been fishing for a long time but in recent years I have started to make bigger fishing trips around the world to discover new horizons and new fish. I fell in love with the idea while watching fishing shows on TV like everyone else and thought that maybe one day I could make one of those trips to the outrageous fish and the landscape that takes your breath away. In December 2019, I decided with my girlfriend to book with High Tide fishing to go fishing in Mexico. I expected a big trip but in fact I did not know that it was my dream that was going to come true: D It was quite the trip of a lifetime. An incredible fishing experience where we fished 8 days out of 12 but where we were able to do so many other activities nearby and easily accessible. And that busy trip that might seem hard to plan has actually been so easy with the High Tides all-inclusive model. The Hacienda Maria Helena is warm, typical and you quickly feel at home. The food the Chef prepares with the fresh daily food is hard to beat and the possibility of eating with the whole gang at the end of the day to count our fishing trips is really nice. It is just perfect. For the activities, Molly takes care of everything ;) - Offshore fishing - Largemouth bass fishing - Side by side rental - Day trip to San Sebastian del Oeste with quad rental - One day trip to small coastal villages with taxi boat - Plane flight - Visit of downtown Puerto Vallarta and I certainly forgot ... But to come back to fishing, the variety of fish was there and the scenery incredible. We did a day of Largemouth bass fishing which I recommend to all bass anglers. 2 hours drive inland to get where you will see typical small villages and superb roads to arrive at a reservoir which offers a playground for great bass and which contains monsters. The local guy said to us he was taking 10/12 pounds bass. The mother of the family who received us cooked fresh lobster caught the same morning for dinner with fajitas ... we can't feel more in Mexico than that: p For offshore fishing, we did several days running the beaches for rooster fish with popper and stickbait. Really trippy as fishing especially when you see the rooster attacking with the dorsal fins out of the water. Otherwise we ran the schools of jack. Crazy attacks on top water and fight that will tear your arms away. Also managed to take several Bonito to eat a good fresh ceviche on the boat prepared by Ramones: D Yahhh man: p The real trip started when Jamy trusted me enough to offer me a big 3-day trip at sea 100 miles offshore around protected islands ... 3 days at sea, without disembarking from the boat and eat and live at 4 guys and just fish. 3 days at sea casting big poppers and big stickbait from sunrise to sunset ... when we weren't fishing with the moon ... 3 days catching monsters with landscapes from another world ... I called it Jurrassic park because it's so different you'd expect to see a dynosaur come out anytime. I have never caught such beautiful fish as in this trip, seen such beautiful scenery and experienced such strong emotions. A wahoo that we have never managed to see break back to back our three lines in the water in mad attacks by literally exploding 3 leaders of 130 pounds. We drive through schools of 300 or 400 dolphins to run tunas .... Everything is big and impressive in Jurassic Park. I spent 2 days without sleeping ... not because we slept in the bottom of a boat but because I said to myself .... That's what lives on the guys on TV :0 and I didn't wanted to miss a moment hahaha. I was living my dream ... If you're looking for the fishing trip of a lifetime, I strongly advise you to do business with the HighTides Fishing team. It was a first for me but not the last for sure. It's an incredible experience and I know that this team can set up the trip you want depending on your fishing experience or the activities that interest you. And it's SIMPLE. Hope to go back soon! It was my son’s first saltwater fishing trip and he really wanted to catch a Dorado unfortunately the fishing gods were not obliging. Captain Mike and Juan saved the day by helping my son catch a Pompano 🐟🎣 we highly recommend a trip with Captain Mike and will look him up the next time we are back in PV.

We booked a 6 hour excursion with Captain Jami, Olga and Reef. Had a great time! We were able to see whales, jumping fish, stingrays and a manatee but unfortunately even though we were onto some fish, they just weren’t biting. We would recommend this tour regardless! Pam, Troy, Scott and Sheri!

We had the best fishing trip with Jamy and his crew (including the dog, Reef)! With High Tides, we caught 13 mahi mahi, and at one point had 3-4 on the line at the same time! They know what to look for and are actively looking out for the best spots. Besides the great luck, they did a great job making us feel welcome and showing us around. I’ve fished on other charters in Puerto Vallarta and this was by far my favorite. Would definitely recommend to anyone!

I couldn't be happier with Jamy and his team, Izzy and Olga! The weather was not great. Steady rain all morning. We got a few Skipjack's early on, but that was just a warm up. Boated 3 nice Dorado. Had many more strikes, but unfortunately none hooked up. Jamy and team worked hard to locate fish. Harder and more focused than any other charter I've fished with. We changed tactics a few times when water conditions changed and when we located active fish. Trolling lures, live bait, casting live bait at active fish, poppers, etc. They were as excited as I was when the action was on. They truly love fishing. I WILL fish with them again next time I'm in P.V! Thanks again Jamy, Olga and Izzy! Tight lines! Side note: If your taking a taxi/Uber, make sure to tell them the marina is across the street from the Westin Hotel.

All I can say is wow! This was our first time fishing in Mexico. My buddy Mike and I will never forget it! Captain Jamy, fishing dog Reef and crew are world class! They met us on time and took note of the fish we were after. Shortly after reaching the fishing grounds my buddy Mike landed a beautiful Sailfish, which is what we were after! Next up I landed an exquisite Mahi Mahi. And then a moment I didn’t think could happen I landed the elusive Roosterfish. The captain and crew were more excited than I was because I had no idea how hard it was to get one. Therefore, that baby is getting mounted! We ended the day by landing a bunch of Needlefish. I wouldn’t book with anyone else. Jamy processed our fish and had someone meet us at our plane so that we could take the fish home! On our next trip, we are going to do the all inclusive package that Jamy offers. We can’t wait!

Let me preface with review by saying I’ve fished Mexico a few times with good results and experiences, I have fished all my life, have guided and I from Alaska.....I have some experience. Fished with Captain Mike, first mate Nacho and mate Olga. We had a day that fishing dreams are made of. Booked the 10 hour trip because that’s the only one that made sense. We headed out of the bay saw a lot of whales on the way out and was a beautiful fairly calm morning. Mike knew that there Tuna around so we were going to try to find some. We started the day by catching Skipjack Tuna our of feeding schools. Bubbling bait balls to the surface then casting jigs or trolling through them. We could have caught them until our arms fell off! But we had bigger fish in mind! We kept catch skipjacks until we saw the “tell tale” bigger feeding splashes of Tuna! We started chasing bait balls and birds. Getting on the edges of bait balls with 500-200lb tuna jumping out of the water feeding 40 feet from the boat! It was AMAZING! The fish were being tight lipped though. They wanted sardines, it hard to live bait rig a sardine! Nacho and mike were working hard going from bait ball to bait ball trying to find a player. We ended the day with 3 hookups and one VERY NICE tuna! Mike said we were pretty lucky and maybe we were but as I looked around at the 3 other boats out there I can guarantee my guys were working harder to get me in fish. Never resting, always working, that’s what you want in a crew! Was a great time! Will be back to to fish with these guys at some point!
