    Great trip

we had a great experience with Wesley. he was very knowledgeable and kept us on the fish. He was also great with my 13 year old son. I would highly recommend him. Will definitely come back to Port Aransas just to fish with him again.

    My Party Was Highly Pleased!

Captain John was amazing from our first encounter to finish. High energy, easy going, patience for first timers, quick response time, accomedating, knowledgeable and taught us a lot. Captain John picked some great spots. My dad said “Out Freaking Standing!” My uncle, “We will definitely book again!” My family is already making plans for next year. Fantastic sums up the day out. Thank you again for a wonderful experience, Captain!

    Tough fishing day

It was a tough fishing day but still managed to catch a few. Captain made sure we exhaust all the options so we could catch fish despite the tough fishing circumstances.

Redfish, also called Red Drum, are a favorite inshore game fish. Anglers love their power, golden color, and the bold spot near the tail. Redfish fishing is all about sight, stealth, and a clean fight. These fish patrol shallow bays, marshes, and flats, and they crush baits with fast runs.

Most trips use inshore fishing with light tackle. Spinning gear and fly fishing both work well. Live shrimp, mullet, or small crabs are classic baits. Spoons, soft plastics, and topwater plugs also produce action. A popping cork makes a chugging sound that calls fish in. Sight casting means you spot the fish first, then place the lure ahead of it.

Expect calm, shallow water and quick strikes. This is a hands-on style that suits kids, first-timers, and seasoned anglers. Tides and low light often bring the best bite. Bring sun protection, a hat, and polarized sunglasses, which help you see fish in the water. Pack snacks, water, and non-marking shoes. Your captain or guide usually provides tackle and bait.

Rules for Redfish change by state and area. Before your trip, check local license and permit needs. Review season dates, harvest rules, and size and bag limits where you plan to fish. When in doubt, ask your captain and follow best catch-and-release practices.
