    (5 Hour Trip)

    CAN'T BEAT THIS CHARTER!!

My husband and I booked a 5 hour trip. We met with Captain Robert and promptly set out at 6 a.m. Robert is a great guy who knows his fishing and has a very well equipped boat. The scenery was unbeatable and we caught 7 salmon ( and missed a few). We enjoyed it so much that we extended our time for another hour. Upon return Robert cleaned the fish and fed the waste to the seals under the dock. It was a very unique experience. We highly recommend East Coaster Fishing and will be back!

(Half Day Trip - 2:00 PM)

    Gabe was wonderful!

My daughter and I did a last minute decision to have a quintessential experience of trying to catch an Alaskan salmon. This did not disappoint! Though there are never any guarantees to catch fish, luck was on our side and we reeled them in! Gabe made the experience relaxing and exciting at the same time! So glad we did this!

Chum Salmon are powerful Pacific Salmon known for fast runs and steady fights. Anglers target them for their size, strong schools, and reliable seasonal runs in coastal waters and rivers. Fresh, ocean-bright fish make great photos and a fun challenge. Many anglers also value their roe and enjoy smoked fillets.

You can catch Chum Salmon while river fishing or inshore fishing near bays and estuaries. Spinning with small spoons and spinners works well. Drift fishing with cured eggs or shrimp is also common. Fly fishing with simple streamers and shrimp patterns is effective, especially on an incoming tide. Use medium tackle, a smooth drag, and leaders that handle sudden bursts.

Expect a lively, action-focused day with quick strikes and long runs. Chums often travel in schools, so bites can come in flurries. This is a great choice for first-time anglers, families, and anyone who enjoys active salmon fishing without long runs offshore. Dress in layers, bring rain gear, and wear polarized sunglasses to spot fish and read current seams. Discuss keeping or releasing fish with your captain before lines in, and plan cooler space if retention is allowed.

Before you go, check local regulations. You may need a fishing license or salmon endorsement, and rules can change by area. Seasons, gear restrictions, and harvest limits vary across regions and water types. Confirm what tackle is legal, whether barbless hooks are required, and which areas are open. Review the latest rules and carry any needed permits for your trip.
