I've been obsessed with fishing my whole life—my first fish came at age three, and by elementary school my nickname was 'Fish Boy.' At 14 I fished my first bass tournament, earned a sponsorship at 15, and competed heavily with multiple wins before stepping away at 19 to serve a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. That time away strengthened my discipline and ability to teach—qualities I now use every day as a guide. In 2008 I moved to Central Texas with my wife, and I've spent the past 17 years making these lakes my home. I love helping clients of all ages and skill levels—whether it's teaching someone to cast, guiding a family to their first fish, or chasing a personal best. Fun fact: I also spent 10 years teaching breakdancing, which taught me how to connect with people and bring energy to everything I do.

    The bite was good on Inks Lake today, with quality making up for quantity! Drop shot rigs produced most of our fish, while a swimbait accounted for our biggest bass of the day. We also landed on a beautiful, big Guadalupe Bass.

    Excellent morning trip on Lake Austin with cool, cloudy, and calm conditions helping keep the bite consistent throughout the trip. Water temperatures are sitting in the low 70s with clear water and normal lake levels. Bass are holding shallow around grass and spawning areas, and many of the fish continue to group up tightly in small sections of productive water. Once a fish was located, it was common to catch multiple bass from the same area. The trip produced 20+ bass including two quality fish over 5 pounds. Neko-rigged creature baits produced the biggest bites, while drop-shot rigged finesse worms and topwater baits also contributed throughout the morning. Overall, the shallow bite on Lake Austin continues to be in great shape this May.

    Half-day trip on Lady Bird Lake with two anglers produced a solid bite. Water is clear with temperatures in the low 70s and the lake sitting at a normal level. Bass are holding shallow around grass near spawning areas and are grouped up, making it possible to catch multiple fish once a productive spot is located. Drop shot rigged finesse worms and Texas rigged stick worms were the most effective presentations. The bite was good overall, with several quality fish landed including two over 5 pounds, along with a number of solid keeper-sized bass. Consistency came from covering water until fish were found, then slowing down and thoroughly working those key areas.

The fish are grouped up right now, and once you locate them, it’s common to catch multiple bass from the same small area. Slowing down and thoroughly working productive rocky stretches or dock lines has been key. As water temps continue to rise, expect the pre-spawn bite to only get better.

Quality Bass Day on Inks Lake

The bite was good on Inks Lake today, with quality making up for quantity! Drop shot rigs produced most of our fish, while a swimbait accounted for our biggest bass of the day. We also landed on a beautiful, big Guadalupe Bass.

Lake Austin Bass Action with Steady Gras

We hit Lake Austin this morning and found some solid action in the grass. Conditions were clear (4–6 ft visibility, 82° water, light breeze, mostly cloudy skies), and once we dialed in the right spots, the bass were waiting. A father-and-son-in-law duo put about 25 fish in the boat, with the biggest pushing 3 lbs. The bite came on drop shot finesse worms and Texas-rigged senkos — quick flurries of bass when we found sweet spots, with some lulls in between. A fun morning with steady bites and good company on the lake.

Big Ones Biting at Travis

Good fishing right now. We are catching decent numbers of fish and so far we have been very fortunate to catch at least one bass over 5 lbs every trip for the past few weeks. Focus on main lake points with a drop-shot rig.
