Captain Evans is a U.S. Merchant Marine–licensed captain who grew up on the shores of Lake Michigan during the early days of the salmon boom in the late1960's. He learned the craft from some of the area’s most respected anglers, a foundation that still guides every trip today. Now he shares the helm with his son Brent, running CatPack Sport Fishing with a focus on safety, steady hands, and a genuine love for the lake. Their goal is simple: give every guest a relaxed, memorable day on the water.

    Best Birthday Trip Ever!

    I brought my son on this charter to celebrate his 15th birthday. He and his buddy had the absolute best time. Captain Evan was knowledge, skilled, and knew exactly where to go under the conditions. We not only caught some beautiful king salmon but learned a lot as well. I will definitely be booking another charter soon! Thank you Captain Evan for making my son’s birthday a day we will cherish our lifetimes.

    An amazing morning of fishing with Captain Evans!

    My son and I had an amazing morning of fishing on Captain Evans’ charter. We caught 5 king Salmon, 1 Coho and 1 Lake Trout.Captain Evans is a very experienced, professional. He really knows how to navigate Lake MI waters and put you on the fish! He has a very friendly personality and was very patient with my son, as well. We will definitely book with him in the future. -Samantha

    Captain Evans and Brent gave us a first class experience. They worked extremely hard to make sure we had a wonderful experience, and also made us feel comfortable.The trip exceeded my expectations in every way. The boat and equipment were great. And we came home with a LOT of meat for the freezer. If you book Catpack Charter you won't be sorry.

    Mission Accomplished : First Family King Salmon

    Evans did a fabulous job accommodating our trip to rebook when the weather didn’t allow us to fish the first time. Upon rebooking, we accomplished our goal as a family to catch our first King Salmon. Evans skills and expertise didn’t let us down to ensure we got what we came for. I recommend Evans for future reference. Thank you!

    Great family outing

    This was my first trolling experience. My son and daughter in law had been before. Evans was great with explaining what was going on and what would be different if conditions were different. We caught enough fish that we are not going hungry for awhile! I highly recommend Evans and his charters.

    Fantastic experience! Booked a trip for my mom and I- had a blast. Hooked 10 and caught 7! My only regret is not booking it earlier in my week long Michigan trip as I would have tried to book another! 🐟
