I have had a love of fishing since I was just a kid. I moved to Victoria after fishing in Haida Gwaii for 2 seasons. I fell in love with the ocean and fishing at that time and have never looked back! I started guiding in 2018 but I have fished southern Vancouver Island for over a decade now. I love sharing my knowledge with my customers! Anyone who enjoys fishing or wants to learn is my favorite! We are very passionate about fishing and nature and are happy to be a part of family memories.

    Winner Winner Fish Dinner!!

    Voyage started off with fantastic weather and calm seas. First fish on within 5min, barely enough time to wipe the sleep from my eyes. The trip was sprinkled with copious amounts of education, continuous bites and lots of laughs. Jay and Bruce have a respect for mother ocean and are more than courteous stewards. At the dock they spent time to teach us how to gut, clean and secure our catch for travel back to WA. Caught 5 fish out of our 6 limit. Would recommend for any seasoned and/or beginner fisherman. Hey Bruce stay out of the drink and Mr. Googly eyes keep telling your clever one liners. We shall be back!! See you soon…Christopher and Laurie

    We can’t say enough great things about Rodfather Fishing! From start to finish, this was an incredible experience. Captains Jay and Bruce were knowledgeable, friendly, and went above and beyond to make sure we had a successful and enjoyable trip. The boat was clean, well-equipped, and comfortable, making the whole experience smooth and stress-free. Whether you’re an experienced angler or a first-timer, they take the time to ensure everyone is set up for success. We caught 5 Chinook Salmon had an absolute blast reeling them in! What really stood out was their passion for fishing and their commitment to making the trip memorable. They knew exactly where to go, shared great tips, and created an atmosphere that made the day even more fun. It was like fishing with family and was the highlight of our trip to Vancouver island. I’ll definitely be booking with them again! Highly recommend!

    Unmatched Salmon Fishing Experience with an Exceptional Crew!

    I recently had the pleasure of going on a fishing tour with Bruce and Jay, and it was nothing short of amazing! This was our first time fishing for salmon in the ocean waters from a boat on Vancouver Island, and the experience exceeded all our expectations. Despite other boats around us catching little to nothing, we managed to catch three incredible fish—a coho salmon, a chinook salmon, and a rockfish. The guidance and support provided by Bruce and Jay were not only professional but also infused with a genuine passion and authenticity that made the experience even more special. Our family had an unforgettable time, and we would highly recommend this tour to anyone looking for a real fishing experience with true professionals. As a fantastic bonus, we got to keep our catch and enjoyed a delicious BBQ dinner at home afterward—an absolutely perfect way to end the day! If you’re seeking a memorable fishing adventure on Vancouver Island, look no further!

    Fishing with Jay and Bruce is more like spending a day with your buddies than being on a charter. They are great guys who love to fish. I have the feeling they would be on the water every day if they had the chance. I liked that they were up to date on watching the weather and fishing regulations to make sure we had the best trip possible. When the weather took a bad turn they changed the meeting spot so we could be out of the wind. We met at the harbor and were out fishing within 10 minutes. The only thing that slowed down getting our lines in the water was the time it took to drop the crab pots. Within half an hour we had landed our first Chinook Salmon. We weren't pulling in fish continually but were each able to catch some nice salmon and limited out on crab. Jay and Bruce might have been more excited that we were whenever a fish was brought up. Because of the weather, we were not able to fish for halibut, but that only gives us an excuse to come back and fish with the Rodfather again. Don't hesitate to book with these guys, You will have a great day.

    We went out with jay and Bruce for an 8 hour charter. Right from the start these brothers showed that not only did they have a well set up boat but also loved fishing. On a day when the fishing was tough and not many in the fleet were hooking up the boys got us onto some quality fish. This continued all throughout the day even when the bite slowed to a trickle the brothers continued to change tactics and gear to maximise our options. Within minutes of the marina they managed a buzzer beater that meant we had fresh chinook for supper Thanks Rodfather we will be back

    We had an amazing day fishing with Jay and Bruce. These guys are not only knowledgeable, but they’re very entertaining as well. They definitely put us on fish, and we even brought home a few crabs as well. It was a fun morning that we will never forget. I highly recommend These two guys if you’re looking for a relaxed, but entertaining day out on the water.

    Jay and Bruce had us on Chinook Salmon all morning. Went out as a hobby fisher with my girlfriend who is a total novice, and the rod fathers still made sure we were both comfortable and had an awesome time. Two hilarious guys who clearly know the waters around Victoria - I couldn’t recommend fishing with them more.

    The “Rodfather” and B put me on the fish almost immediately - I caught quality King Salmon and just had an all around good time! We were nailing them while watching all the other boats pull in the kelp! If you are looking to fish in the Victoria area I can’t recommend these guys enough….

    Captain Bruce and Ray were wonderful guides and fun to hang out with! We were able to catch halibuts and a cod. It was a beautiful day and filled with laughter and excitement. Highly recommend!
