Captain Drey Thomason is a full time light tackle fishing guide here on the Chesapeake Bay and its tributaries.Light Tackle fishing is by far one of the most enjoyable ways to fish the Chesapeake Bay. We target a variety of species such as Striped Bass, Red Drum, Cobia, Speckled Trout, Spanish Mackerel, Bluefish, and a few other species that swim in our waterways. Most of these species listed are seasonal catches but we are able to fish all four seasons here in Maryland.Book your trip today and make a memory that will last a lifetime.

    Even great for the inexperienced and little boys

    Captain Brian was very patient and accommodating of our family, who had no experience fishing. He taught and encouraged two energetic little boys, and drove us around to different spots when we weren't having much luck. The boys were so excited to catch big fish! Thanks so much!

    Afternoon Rockfish

    Had an amazing outing with Captain Drey. We are from the mid-west, this was our first experience with this type of fishing. Captain Drey was outstanding, he did a great job engaging with my two boys (13 & 9) as well as with the wife (who never fishes). Everyone had a blast from the very start of the trip. The boy and wife loved catching the spot at the start to use for bait later. Once we started fishing for rockfish, Captain Drey explained why we he choose that specific location, showed the boys and wife what to do and what to expect and got them going. Wasn’t very long at all before the first of many rockfish was in the boat. We needed up fishing 4 locations, caught fish at every location using a couple different techniques. Everyone caught multiple fish on the day, to include the 9 yo catching the biggest at 26”. I looked at many different options before booking and Captain Drey proved to the perfect choice. Made the highlight of the vacation.

    Drey is an extremely knowledgeable professional who put us on the fish and kept us on almost all day. There are no guarantees when you book a charter but this may be as close as it gets. We limited out with plenty of legal size fish (only kept 2) as well as fun with the shorties. Absolutely recommend 100%

    Half Day Trip with Capt Drey Thomason 25 Aug

    We had such a fantastic time last month, we decided to go again, and this time brought our neighbor and his son. After I told my son, he asked if Capt Thomason was going too. He was so excited he was. The kids were catching fish right away and my son finally caught the Spanish Mackerel he was looking for. Drey is very patient with the kids and I felt I wasn’t having to watch the kids all the time. So I could enjoy fishing too! Drey is relentless in finding where the fish are biting and taking you there!

The water temps are heating up allowing us to find these big fish in shallower water. March is some of the best trophy fishing of the year, and also your last chance at a big trophy striped bass until next winter season.

    December has started off very strong. Lots of Birds, Bait, and Fish in the Chesapeake bay. The striped bass bite has been outstanding. The best bite we have had in years with fish to the mid 30s. The big migratory fish will be showing up any day. Most of our guided trips are producing well over 100 fish in a trip.     November fishing was some of the best rock fishing that we have had in years to date. It has been non stop action with many trips producing well over 100 fish. All light tackle! All artficial lures! December will be even better. Cold temps draw all of the bait out of the rivers and the shallows and makes for a wide open bite in the middle bay. Also very large migratory stripers start to show up in December which makes for alot of fun on light tackle. Book today you dont want to miss out on this action.

    We had never been on a chartered fishing trip, so we weren't real sure what to expect. Captain Drew was AWESOME! I broke my personal record of most fish caught in a day, and the biggest caught as well. It was a no frills charter that suited our needs perfectly.

Giant migratory striped bass are still here feasting in the chesapeake bay preparing for there big spawn in april.
