Hi. My name is Captain Ronnie Hayes. I was born and raised in St Petersburg FL. I have spent most of my life fishing the beautiful waters that surround this amazing place I call home. The fishing opportunities here are endless. My greatest passion as a fishing guide is taking kids fishing. The most important part of my job is making sure they leave with big smiles.     Father son fishing trip!

    From the minute we stepped on the boat Captain Ronnie did all he could to make our experience a memorable one. I have 9 and 6 year old boys that love to fish and he was great with them. He was very laid back and loved teaching them about the fish we were catching. We booked the half day inshore trip and fish a lot longer than 4 hours! We caught a bunch of snook and a couple of speckled trout. Captain Ronnie was awesome with my boys and was very knowledgeable about the area where we fished. I would highly recommend Somewhere South Fishing Charters and will definitely be back!

    Captain Ronnie Is Great!

    My Daughter, Son and I took a 4 hour trip with Captain Ronnie. I have been on other Charters and Captains have used time catching bait but that was not the case with Captain Ronnie. Ronnie had everything ready to go at the meeting time and we headed straight out. He had us on snook in less than half an hour. The bite was rough this day due to a cold front but Ronnie did everything possible to get the bite going (Chumming allot of bait fish). He kept lines baited and was patient when casts were made into mangro trees. We caught several good size snook and we all enjoyed the day. I will definitely contact Ronnie next time in St. Pete area for another go at it. I highly recommend Captain Ronnie!

    Successful Evening Trip with Captain Ronnie

    Post cold-front conditions had us fishing a later evening bite and Captain Ronnie did not disappoint. He worked hard to put is on the active fish and the smiles on our faces tell the rest. Caught plenty of fish and enjoyed a beautiful sunset in great company. We are already looking forward to out next trip. Thanks, Captain Ronnie!

    Captain Ronnie, captain Rob were amazing . They took us out and gave us an experience of a life time catching red fish and Snook. If anyone is wanting to have an awesome day of fishing and hanging out with two really great guys they are the 1# choice. SOMEWHERESOUTHFISHING My family will definitely be going back. The fishing has been pretty good lately with some higher tides in the evening. With the added rain the water has cooled down some getting these fish to really get active. As we approach September, the fall patern will be in effect and the inshore fishing will get really good. Lets Go Fishing

Hot Bite!!!

When we got to our spot, the tide was so low i thought we were gonna have a hard time getting on the fish. Its a good thing the Panga floats in a foot of water!!! Once we got our baits in the water the bite was non stop. Lots of refish and snook action!!!

Took my buddy Jamie out for an evening of fishing. We had an awesome time catching redfish along the south shore of Tampa Bay! The fish were feeding on everthing we put in front of them.

Summertime Fishing July 2025

The summertime fishing in St.Petersburg has been exceptional in the early morning hours and late evening before the sun sets. Cut bait on the bottom has been the go to. Moving water has been the ticket. If your looking to do some summer fishing your best bet is early morning or late afternoon. Book your trip and lets go fishing!!

April Fishing 2024

The waters in Tampa Bay have the perfect temps now for an unbelievable fishing experience from the shallow water grass flats to the pristine beaches in our area. The redfish bite is on fire. Live baits have been the trick on an out going tide with lots of snook mixed in the action. As we approach the month of May the fishing in Tampa Bay should continue its normal yearly cycle with amazing catching of trophie size fish. What do you say, Lets go Fishing!!! Now Booking
