Born and raised in Crystal River, Captain Robert knows every nook and cranny around these waters he's been fishing since he was a child. He's been professionally fishing for over ten years now and is the last captain of 'Apollo', a well known deep-sea party boat in Crystal River. What drives him is getting people hooked on fishing. He wants all of his clients to be left with a memory of how great of a trip they had so that they will come and fish with him again.

    Captain Robert was GREAT!

    Captain Robert is a very down to earth, open, guy that makes for great conversations. He knew the waters we fished very well. Most guides talk above you. He let my wife n I do things our way, wuth mixing in his tips here or there. As an avid fisherman, who has 45 years experience, I truly appreciated that fact in his demeanor! O highly recommend him n will definitely use him again!!

    Dette var en tur booket til min søns 18-års fødselsdag, og det var en fantastisk oplevelse!! Tak kaptajn Robert for at gøre det til en fantastisk dag på vandet og for at finde de rigtige spots, så de kunne fange det maksimale!! Kan varmt anbefale kaptajn Robert!!

    Vi havde en fantastisk familiefisketur. Kaptajn Robert var meget vidende og kendte gode fiskepladser. Han ændrede turdatoen på grund af vejret, hvilket var en meget klog beslutning. Det var første tur for nogle af dem om bord, så det rolige vand hjalp med at berolige nerverne. Vi vil booke med kaptajn Robert igen i fremtiden.

    Great Trip!

    Kids got to catch a lot of different fish, we only got to keep 1 but it didn’t matter to the kids, they loved it all! It was very windy and the weather wasn’t great overall but we had a blast with Robert. Thats the most fun my kids had on our whole vacation. We would absolutely recommend Robert. Make sure you bring sunblock and hats for the kids. We plan to come back and book Robert for another fishing trip

    Great afternoon with Cpt Robert. Caught fish in the first 20 mins and continued all afternoon. Black drum, gorgeous speckled trout, ladyfish, and even a flounder. He’s born and bred, knows exactly what he’s doing, was patient with my learning curve, made me entirely comfortable, and a left me a more confident fisherman. Fun, educational, and incredibly scenic (it’s amazing here) afternoon.Captain Robert is the real deal.

Bottom bonanza

Jun 13, 2026 • Carrabelle
The bottom fishing is great. There are plenty of red grouper in 40 feet of water. Start with dead bait first. Then when you see a couple of good fish switch to live bait if available.. Cut squid will load the boat with white grunts, lane and Mangrove Snapper. If you see pods of bait drop down and see if there are any red snappers.

Inshore slams

The inshore bite is very good.Especially at high tide. This is busy fishing. We're using 8 oz jigheads with soft plastics by bass assassin colors. Being golden glow, avocado red glitter. Working shorelines and creek mouths. You want to look for 2 types of bait at the same time. Whether glass meadows and pinned fish or pinned fish and mullet, or any combination. Light line and long cast are a must.

Cold water makes for hot fishing.

With the cold water came some challenges. Shrimp were hard to come by today. I pulled out mai deck of cards and we played some soft plastics with jigheads and got a little bit of trout in under two hours. While catching trout, we caught a couple of ladyfish. With the time we had left, we turned those into a few red fish. I'm a big fan of using jigheads. The added weight to the end of the line makes it easy to cast baits. While the temperatures are cold, remember, the fishing can be hot.

Cold weather mixed bag

With the cold front settling in on us, my hopes were not very high. We fished with jigheads and soft plastics and caught several nice trout. We then switched over to you a circle hook style jighead, and it caught black drum. Sheep's head and redfish.

Good fun leads to good eats

The trout bite is very hot. The weather is cool The rig is an 1/8 ounce jighead color matched to the soft plastic of you choice. Today the choice was lil John in kitchen sink. **hidden content** chicken on a chain And we also did well with doa gold rush Pink and red jigheads . Those same jigheads with shrimp caught every thing in the water. The best way to learn is to book a trip. Thanks Captain Robert

Red snapper are open and abundant.

The red grouper and red snapper bite has been very good. They're hitting various beats on the bottom two, just off the bottom. 4/0 to 7/0 hooks with 40 to 80 pound leader Baits can vary from frozen sardines to fresh cut mullet and Bonita. Live sardines and cigar minnows work the best if you can find them. I have several weekend days available through the end of the year. We can even do a six hour offshore trip on pretty days
