I started my fishing career, at age 12, bought my first, commercial vessel at 14, fishing all over the Gulf. Moved to Kona, Hawaii, switching to charters and built Kona Cowboy Sportfishing. My wife Kimberly and I, worked together establishing a very successful business. When it was time to go home, we sold the Cowboy, moved back to Gulf Shores and bought the Bandit! I stayed with charter fishing, I found the best of both worlds. I get to fish everyday and share my love and enthusiasm for fishing and catch plenty of fish, with other people. Whether you're a first timer, or expert, you won't be disappointed.

    July fishing trip

    We HIGHLY recommend Captain Shawn and Bama Bandit Sport Fishing. When visiting Gulf Shores, Alabama my son was interested in a fishing charter for his 12th birthday. We’re SO glad we booked with Captain Shawn! Captain Shawn was hospitable, knowledgable, and experienced, and in just a 2 hour charter, he taught my son much about fishing. Furthermore, I was impressed with Captain Shawn’s ability to balance patience and a stern demeanor… He was calm and encouraging, gave clear instruction, and maintained a safe environment and enjoyable experience. We are grateful for the memories and delicious fish, and we will definitely booking again!

    knowledgeable and definitely experience

    This morning I had the opportunity to fish with Shawn and not only discovered how knowledgeable he is on the history of the area, but also how professional he is in educating novice gulf fishermen like myself on techniques and equipment. I would recommend him to anyone and look forward to booking another excursion with him again. He will definitely work hard to put you on fish. Thank you for a great morning.

    Great Trip! Very efficient 2 hour trip!

    We had a great 2 hour trip! When we left the marina we had a nice 10 minute boat ride and were on the fish pulling them in as soon as we got into the bay. We filled up the ice box with more fish than we could take and were back to the beach to enjoy the afternoon. My 10 year old even caught a few sharks which he has been talking about since the trip a few weeks ago. Would definitely recommend and will fish with the Captain Shawn again when we get back to the area.

    A great trip with an experienced guide

    We had a great time on our charter with Captain Shawn from Bama Bandit Sport Fishing. We opted for the inshore charter with our 13 and 9 year old joining us, so Captain Shawn took us to his spots along the channel. We had a lot of bites and were able to bring in enough fish to cook up a meal for four that night. Shawn was great with the boys, showing them how to cast and giving them feedback during and following a catch (or “one that got away”) so they could learn something and move forward with some better techniques. We also managed to catch a few catfish for good measure. All in all, we had a great family outing and Shawn was a good fit for us as our captain.

    Amazing trip!

    Shawn was amazing! Highly recommend using him if you are in the gulf shores area. We caught 19 fish in a little over an hour. He is extremely knowledgeable about the area and anything fishing. 10/10!

2hr trips are producing some excellent catches. Water temperature is low 90s so redfish hasn’t been that good but can definitely catch a few trophies early. Summer is here

Redfish are biting and looks like the Bull Drum are biting. Water temperature is rising quickly we should start to see some small bull sharks soon in the Bay.

Water is around 65 and climbing. Trout are still in there winter holes but should start to move out any time. We have been catching some really nice ones.

Cold water bite

Water Temp is 55 and fishing has been decent. Redfish speckled trout and black drum are in deep holes in the river. Live bait is the trick. Warmer days ahead and fishing will just get better.
