Captain Ken Savage started charter fishing in his home waters of southern Delaware where he was born and raised. There he owned and operated the popular “Gale Force Chaters” before he and his family moved to the Outer Banks in 2014. Once here he fell in love with red drum fishing and speckled trout fishing in and around the sounds and the oregon inlet. Capt Ken has spent most of his years fishing both recreational and commercially, so naturally the waters called. when the opportunity arose to puchase the “Reel Thang” from Capt Will it was a no brainer! “I love to fish and watch people catch fish be it a first timer or a sesoned angler.” His knowledge of the Oregon Inlet, Pamlico Sound, and the Atlantic ocean will make sure you have a safe and productive day. His passion for fishing and willingness to teach others are many of the reasons he has chosen fishing as a full-time occupation and way of life on the water.

My brother & I have been vacationing in OBX since we were little, and he and his wife are now full-time residents of KDH, so we thought taking a charter out on the sound would be a great way to find some cool boating areas for them in the future and also get some time with a local for some insights on the island and maybe some hidden gem restaurant recommendations! We got all of those things with Captain Will and more! I’ve taken my brother and sis-in-law fishing with me before, but couldn’t convince them to get on a line… they both reeled in a catch for their first time and were thrilled. Our group pulled in some massive Red Drum, a Speckled Trout, and some skate- all of which were released cleanly and hook free. Captain Will was so knowledgeable about EVERYTHING, was super fun to talk with, and had great stories. His boat was very clean, comfortable, and spacious- we had more than enough room for four adults with multiple bags and coolers. He also sells really cool Tshirts and sun shirts- my brother bought one and it’s great! I’m planning another trip back up to OBX this summer with my 10 year old and the first thing we’ll be doing is booking another charter with Captain Will! Thank you, Captain, for such a wonderful afternoon! (and for letting me snuggle my cute fishy really quick haha!)

Fought it for an hour between the 5 of us taking turns . Ended up netting it and getting it on the boat . It was 47in long and 50lbs !!!!!!!

Although they are small some speckle trout have shown up! Which is good being we havent seen many yet this year and hopefully they get bigger as the fall continues
Had a fun morning trip catching a nice keeper redfish and a boat load of throw back trout which kept a bend in the rod for hours
